So I went in to waitrose after you mentioning on the other thread. Loved the sparkly cupcakes! Friend and I just went for a wander but she ended up buying a sandwich and was given a green token...whats that all about? We didn't want to make it obvious that we were Waitrose virgins so we just took it and put it in a box like everyone else. (We were in a rush)

Oh and have you tried that ice cream/salad bar? I sampled some icecream on Saturday for MN research purposes - and I can report back its very nice. If anyone needs me to sample some more I can try my hardest.

ahahaha. i have banned myself from that ice cream place cos the woman who owns it was hoooooorrrible to a pal of mine.

green token goes into the clear plastic boxes at the side as you leave, it's a charity thing, quite cute. no idea as to the monetary value, could be a ha'penny.

glasjam · 14/03/2010 22:03

Hi Singe! What did the woman in the ice cream place do?? I love the coffee in there but don't go in often cos my DS can't eat in there (nut reasons) And let me take this opportunity once more to congratulate you Giraffes on passing your driving test

Oh and seeing the new Tesco on Byres Road makes me realise just how lovely the new Waitrose is - have you checked the guy at the front of the shop scanning the CCTV - they should just put headphones on him and make him a multi-tasking store DJ/detective.

PacificDogwood · 14/03/2010 22:11

giraffes, I take it from your shiny new name that you have passed your test, yes? Congratulations !

I thought the green token just allows you to chose which charity you would like Waitrose to support ie there are 3 charities/clear plastic boxes to chose from and depending on how many green tokens they get Waitrose donates X amount?
I never pay much attention to what the charities are as it is DS3's job to choose which slot the token goes into. He is 2 and so far has not expressed any strong preferences re animal/human/vegetable/mineral charity

not been into the tescos yet, still loyal to viceland. i love how the tescos staff all take their fag breaks directly outside the shop... niiiiice.

can't tell story online as it would identify my friend, will tell next time i see you. you know we might be making the big trip south, don't you? we can just afford so much MORE there.

glasjam · 14/03/2010 22:25

Uhh! Nooooooo! But if you've found somewhere nice? I found your FB page but could not access it. I have enjoyed my Mother's Day but have realised that what made it nice was thanking the children for their lovely breakfast in the morning and then enjoying having time away from them all day to read the papers, play on the computer etc. Am realising that I have to make the effort to do more socialising and chatting to grown ups - so yes, let's catch up soon

you should really come on the wanker's thread, glas, and read the reports of me getting out for Beer and Wine and going to comedy gigs and EVERYTHING. it's my new resolution for myself (and dh on occasion), i want my life back.
