I am very new to HE'ing my two boys and am in the process of googling every local group I can find but thought I might find someone in here too. I feel like I'm the only person doing this (I know I'm not, just very much feeling like no other HE'ers exist! ) so it would be great to hear from someone local-ish.

Try the yahoo group, there's also a co-op - www.ebhe.org.uk/index.html

It is terribly difficult to break into the Edinburgh home ed scene. A friend of mine was actively trawling the net for groups for years before she found out the pertinent info.

Seems that the problem is the established groups feel they are already too big and rather selfishly don't seem to have any feeling of responsibility to welcome newcomers. Really put me off, TBH. That kind of "I've got mine Jack" attitude is not really the sort of attitude I want DD to grow up around.

Not to put you off, though! I hear there are some very lovely people HEing locally, they're just difficult to find as a result of policies enforced by the groups that they may not actually agree with IYSWIM.

Hope the link above is helpful, the co-op has a Ning group which is very active, but you need to be invited .

I also hear good things about the North Queensferry HE group, a nice wee jaunt on the train perhaps?

Thanks for the link, I've emailed for more info.

But to hear that the Edinburgh HE scene isn't very welcoming. I was really hoping to find it was a nice big friendly group! Maybe I should start my own offshoot group.
