West End nursery advicce

Hi

Just looking for a wee bit advice on nurseries in the West End. I'll be looking for 1-2 days per week from August-ish and my baby will be 1. Is there anywhere you would recommend? And are there likely to be waiting lists- should I be looking to sign up now?

Ideally, I would like somewhere fairly close to where I live (Wilton St), or at least somewhere close enough to an underground station.

Any other advice would be much appreciated.

I am looking in advance at nurseries in the west end. Does anyone know if one exists that opens after 6pm? I work until 6pm 2 nights per week so would ideally find a nursery that'll take babies & is open until 6:30.

Not sure if this thread is still active....but will post anyway. Our boys aged 2 and 4 have attended step by step nursery in Maryhill since they were 9 months. We were at another nursery in the west end but moved when our eldest was 2. Step by Step was breath of fresh air. Staff are experienced and go out of their way to get to know and develop activities for the kids. Their is a good safe outdoor space with potatoes and flowers and a mud kitchen. Lots of extras like Forest School in the Children's Wood, cycling football and music lessons. Messy play for babies. Good use of email and FB to keep parents up to date.

Since this seems to have been resurrected recently!

Nightingales Nursery (behind old Yorkhill) is fantastic. Open 0645-1830 my son has been happily going here full time for nearly two years now.
A baby room with lots of toys and a nurturing atmosphere
A tweenie room (16-22 months ish) with lots of activities and little toilets
A sunshine room (2-5) with large space upstairs
Also a large garden with lots of toys etc (separate area for babies)

Cannot recommend highly enough

I would advise against Somerset Fitzroy nursery on Sauchiehall St. Take a look at their most recent Care Inspectorate Report (June 2015). Children strapped into chairs whilst screaming, food served next to where nappies are changed, a 'lack of a caring environment'.
