We have been thinking of having our DS (nearly 8) assessed for a long while now, and for a whole variety of reasons that are making our lives (and those of our other children) really quite miserable, have finally decided to do it.
We don't want to do it via the NHS, as we would prefer to keep the whole process to ourselves for the time being. The National Autistic Society will give us the names of people who will do private assessments - but we'd prefer to see someone who's been recommended by someone else (iyswim). So we were wondering if anyone knows of someone really good who specialises in this? York would be the best place, but we would willingly travel to Harrogate/Leeds/Bradford and so on if it is to see someone who has been recommended.
I would be really, really grateful for advice!
