Child care near Montpelier

Hello, I'm new to Mumsnet, was hoping you might be able to give some recommendations for child care in or around Montpelier please.

I've left it too late for lovely nurseries in St Werburghs and St Pauls, and now kicking myself for not getting my act together sooner and starting to feel very anxious about the whole thing.

My little boy will be 1 when I go back to work in September, 2.5 days a week.

So far I've visited one nursery - thoroughly depressing - also lovely childminder whose Ofsted report suggested otherwise.

Could anyone recommend a child minder/home care/nursery/nanny share/miracle solution?

Thank you!

Have you tried the Family Information Service via the Council? They have all the lists of available childminders. If no luck, posting on netmums can be a good idea.

My CM is up by Horfield Sports Centre and I think she still has spaces if you get really stuck.

cat2fat when you say you met a lovely childminder but her ofsted report said otherwise what do you mean?

I'm a registered childminder in Henleaze I've been doing it for 6 months and I've yet to have my inspection but to be truthful I wouldn't take much notice of the inspection as Ofsted only love you if you're good at paperwork.

If you posted a link to the report I could have a read for you if you like and demystify it?

Otherwise as Queens says call family nformation services, or use childcarefinder.direct.gov.uk/ it's a new database and a bit useless but might help, the other good one is www.childcare.co.uk

I have some vacancies but unless you work towards my way it's a bit of a trek? My website is www.playfulpenguins.co.uk if you fancy a nosey.

Good luck!

Cat2Fat - was it the children's centre in St. Pauls that was full? I've also been told I might be too late for a place for my as yet unborn child for Jan/Feb 2011! Not suprising given their truly amazing Ofsted report.

Hello, thanks to you all for your responses, very much appreciated, will try those suggestions. Unfortunately I work in Old Market so Horfield/Westbury not ideal.

Missus84, yes it was that one - sorry that it's full for your bump even though you are way more organised than me!
