Hi all! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm the new Tsarina for the local Merton site. It's a voluntary role and the aim is for me to keep our site updated with local listings , answer posts, where I can, and hopefully create a bit more local community feel.

There is a list of Merton Mumsnetters here but I'm not sure how current it is so if you're lurking, please come and introduce yourself on this thread. Also, if there are any groups/classes/events etc you know of which are not listed then please give me te details or a link and I'll do the rest. If you have any suggestions for improvements I'd love to hear them.

I live a longish way (in London standards!!) from Merton but it is the closest group when I signed up to MN.

What areas does this group cover??

Bicnod · 10/02/2010 13:40

Hello fellow Merton mumsnetters

Here are some linkys THoM:

The Bridge Children's Centre timetable (at Raynes Park library)

The Avenue Children's Centre timetable (next to Joseph Hood Primary School)

There is also a soft play coffee shop set up at the David Lloyd leisure centre (for members and non-members) which is fun...

Also went to the new jitterbugs play cafe in Wimbledon last week which is a nice play to hang out and have a coffee/chat.

TheHouseofMirth · 10/02/2010 16:30

Ooh I was just about to post a question about Jitterbugs. Wondered if anyone had been & thought it might be a good venue for a daytime meet. What's it like?

I've only been once but it was a nice place to hang out. The baby section is tiny but older babies would be fine in the toddler bit which is a lot more interesting. Very nice cakes.

Hello!

I'm a Merton Parker, but I have older DCs (almost 18 and almost 15), so I'm more likely to be pointing you towards drinking establishments

TheHouseofMirth · 10/02/2010 18:07

Their website's rather lacking in actual information. Do they charge an entry fee?

I think they do for toddlers but not sure. I didn't pay anything (DS is 9 months old), just bought a coffee and a cake.

Hi BIWI ah, drinking establishments. I remember those. Actually I'm going out tonight with some local mums, but we're all massively sleep deprived at the moment so probably not going to be a late one. I miss getting trollied and puking on DH's shoes

Hi, I just moved to Merton a couple of weeks ago (near South Wimbledon tube). Jitterbugs is nice, more of a cafe with soft play rather than soft play chaos like at Eddie Katz. Certainly more pleasant for the grown-ups!

I'm looking for a babies playgroup on a Tues/Weds/Thurs - anyone know of one?

Fruitbatlings · 25/02/2010 22:10

Hello there hom! How's life treating you these days? Hope little ones are well.
Just thought I'd add the playgroups I take my lovely lot to: (yzzil, just posted on your thread)
Mondays: Oasis church toddlers 10-11:30 Fortescue rd SW19
or: Rhyme time at c.wood library
Tuesdays: toddlers at Holy Trinity church, Wimbledon 9:30-11:30
Thursdays: Funtime at c.wood community centre on the high st 9:30-12:00
Fridays: Collywobbles at Christchurch (c.wood) 10-11:30

Fruitbatlings · 25/02/2010 22:12

Biwi: drinking establishment recommendations are always welcome in my book. I, for one, would like to know what that new bar Centro (?) is like in wimbledonia....

Hi All

I noticed some questions about meet-ups (and nights out!) so thought I'd post...

My friend and I run Naughty Mummy - a regular night out for mums in SW19 and SW20 - we have a coffee afternoon on Thurs 4th March and a pub quiz coming up in April. Visit our website for more info on this night out/other nights out and our coffee afternoon!!
