visiting primaries

I am quite stressed about choosing a primary in Wimbledon . People have advised visiting the schools ; has anyone actually done this? Is it arranged on an individual basis or do they arrange open days in the non-private schools?

Pelham have regular visits - I think they're every Thursday.

Have you checked out the websites of the schools you're interested in?

I'd just ring the schools you're interested in and ask them. When I looked round DS's school I was given an individual tour by the Head which was great but I'm sure all schools operate differently. Personally, I think it's really important to go and see the schools you are interested in as the 'vibe' you get is just as important as looking at Ofsted reports etc.

BIWI - I noted that you sent you children to Pelham but that was a few years ago. I was surprised to find out that it had been placed under special measures in 2008 despite many people being happy with it. Do you know anything about its recent history?

You need to ring the school. Some have a particular day and others you can make an appointment with the headteacher. Some have only one or two open days a year. Some have year 6 children showing you around the school.
