Can anyone recommend a cleaner/agency?

I know this is a long shot.

I'm a layabout student mum and we have had a cleaner for 4 months - I also have mh issues and it took soooo much pressure off me, as dh works long hours.

Cleaner got a ft job elsewhere and I find I am struggling a bit.

Can anyone recommend anyone (we're Southside) or a decent agency you have used?

(feeling terribly posh and precious. But it makes a huge difference to us!)

I use maid 2 clean agency which is based in East Kilbride, but I live Southside, so they are not just restricted to EK.

Terri is really lovely and it's great going through an agency as I hired cleaners directly and they were terrible at turning up, whereas Terri will always get a cleaner out to you.

Weegie - dont be embarrassed.

I would have a cleaner too if could justify it (SAHM to 1

What are maid2cleans rates like Trixy? Just out of interest like.....

I pay £7 an hour directly to the cleaners and then a further £2.50 an hour to the agency by DD.

It is much cheaper to hire a cleaner directly, but they were always letting me down at the worst possible time, i.e. just before Xmas when i had 21 people coming for Xmas dinner and had loads of other stuff to be getting on with rather than cleaning myself!!

weegiemum - did you manage to find a cleaner? I'm about to move house and am determined to get a cleaner this time - don't quite know where to start though, and would much prefer getting one who was recommended to me rather than a random.
Anyone got any recommendations for North Lanarkshire? Or even hints on who to avoid would be useful?
Thanks :O

I'm in uddingston, so probably not far from you. I use Maid to Clean too, after Trixy's recommendation.

£7 per hour direct to cleaner, £2 per hour to the agency paid by monthly direct debit.

I had a couple of teething problems, but the cleaner I have now is fab - she will do things without being asked - like hanging the washing out if its sunny or windows if she has time. I love her Grin

geordieminx - thanks so much for the reply!
Did you just keep asking for a different cleaner until Maid 2 Clean sent you a good one?!
Can I ask the name of your cleaner - do you know if I can ask for a specific cleaner to be sent?
I'd rather get a recommendation from a non-agency but failing that it looks like I'll be calling Maid 2 Clean Grin

i know exactly what you mean, i had hoped to get a local reccomendation too but couldnt seem to find anyone.

I did think about local ads in newsagent etc, but decided that handing house key over to complete stranger probably wasnt the wisest of ideas.

Cleaner is called louise. Are you far from me?

UltimateNachos · 10/08/2010 22:26

I'm actually in Bothwell (almost neighbours!) but moving to Coatbridge so not too far away. I've half-heartedly been looking for a cleaner for a while but am taking a stand after the move - looking forward to a cleaner house and easier life!
Think I'll give them a call and ask if the wonderful Louise is available!
Thanks so much
