Weekend single mum

Hi there, just new to this and wanted to post a thread, not too sure what to say right enough!!! I am actually in a lovely relationship, but my hubby to be is a chef and so my son and I do not see him at the weekend at all. I am finding things a little difficult at present as on my own such a lot.(sad) Also I think that my son could be doing with socialising a lot more and all of my friends are childless! Just wanting to reach out and see if anyone else is in a similar position?

Hi NurseryMummy, I am a single mum and did post a thread a while ago to see if there were other Lone parents who wanted to meet up at the weekends as it can get very lonely at times when its just the two of you . So if you ever want to meet up for visits to a park or just out for some fresh air then drop me a PM.

I'm quite often a weekend SP as well - my husband is a doc and works odd shifts (eg left at 9 tonight after a day off, working tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night, will be home Thurs night, then working from 9am Fri - 4pm Sat! Weird!!)

I have older children (10, 8, 6) but they love littlies and are often (always?) up for some playing or going swimming or to a soft play or something. My 10 yo dd is especially fabulous with small people.

Oh and do contact RHG! She's lovely and her dd is gorgeous!

Ahhh! We need another meet that I can actually make it to, and one with the kids as well (mine are at school all week so I am sure some Mnetters think I am a weird faking woman!)

Thanx Weegiemum . We should try and get another meetup sorted for sure. This is my last week of freedom sadly.. DD is settling into nursery this week (Stress level increasing slowly!!) and I'm back to the grind next week. Maybe we could arrange a weekend meetup somewhere nice for the kiddies to play??

weegiemum · 26/01/2010 21:50

That would be nice RHG. I am usually fairly free on Saturdays as even if he's not doing a shift dh is knackered on a Sat from the weekday stuff, so I am often looking for something to do, esp morning/lunch/early afternoon.

Does your dd like swimming? IIRC you are East End? We can easily get a bus over your way, or the Bellahouston swimming pool nearer us has fabulous stuff for tinies - really shallow splashy pool with fountains etc. DD1 would be so excited to have a baby come with us!! The only issue is you have to see me in my cozzie - not a pretty sight!

Can't believe you are back at work almost!! Is the nursery thing going OK - I remember settling dd1 and ds with childminders when I went back to work - by the time I had dd2 it was just not worth the money any more! Hope it goes well for you.

weegiemum · 26/01/2010 21:51

Or once it is a bit better weather, back to the Tramway adn let them run round the Hidden Gardens? Your dd with be trailing after them before you know it!

RedHairedGirlie · 26/01/2010 22:05

I do go swimming at Bellahouston and the wee one loves it.. really starting to splash about now - definitely up for meeting there one saturday, and believe me.. if I don't get around to shaving my legs soon all eyes will be on me and not you in your cozzie ... see what not having a man does to you..!! hee hee..

RedHairedGirlie · 26/01/2010 22:07

PS... only 2nd day of nursery and only an hour or so each day... lots of tears so far... from us both .. I know it will get easier.. just need to stop feeling so guilty about leaving her too...

nurserymummy · 27/01/2010 19:28

Thank you so much ladies for posting back. It sounds so nice just to hear that there are other people in a similar position! ( that sounds a bit mean actually ) I just mean that it is nice to not be totally alone!!! I am currently looking at how to PM and stuff... am not the most technically minded person in the world! But will get on to that. It sounds like you guys are both in town, I'm EK but I drive and would happily go anywhere to relieve the stress of entertaining the boy alone at the weekend. My wee guy loves swimming as do I. However, I am an actual sight to behold in a cossie!!! My cellulite has cellulite! But actually I try to ignore the dropped jaws as I pass in the pool and just enjoy the time there with the wee one! So I am off to look at this site to see how to do stuff on it! But I shall definitely PM you guys, thank you again so so much for replying to my post! x

Hey Nurserymummy, I am more of a single mummy during the week as my DH works in London mon to fri but I am up for meeting at the weekend sometime too (poss with DH or without if he wants a lie-in!). I have been to Bellahouston pool with RHG and it has a great pool for littlies, our DD's love it.

(Hijack! - RHG - I have a new phone and have lost your number, can you text me please?)

RedHairedGirlie · 28/01/2010 19:57

Hi Wiggle, will send you a quick text now - added you on FB too Hope all is well.

I'm Free Sun 7th or Sat 13th if anyone fancies meeting up for a swim then or maybe something else? Will post a meetup message and maybe we can get something sorted in the coming weeks
