Childcare in Edenbridge area? advice please!

hi - we're looking to move to the Edenbridge area from London in March as my partner has rented an office there. We have DD aged 2.5 and DS aged 3.5, and I work 3 days a week (9am-6pm). There is apparently a pre-school nursery in Edenbridge which operates term-time mornings only so we're thinking of doing the pre-school nursery in the mornings then either childminder, nanny or au pair for 3 afternoons a week.
I'd be grateful to hear from anyone with experience/advice on the Edenbridge nursery, any Edenbridge schools, where/where not to live (!) and whether these kind of hours would be more suitable for a nanny, au pair or childminder. Cost-wise childminder will be £10 p/h for the 2 of them, so I was wondering what the going-rate is for nannies and au-pairs (we plan to rent a house so we're thinking it might be worth paying for a bigger house if it decreases our childcare costs!). Also - how does one go about finding a nanny or au pair?!
Thanks for any tips!!

Hi
I have just moved to Edenbridge and have a 6 month old. I too am looking for advice on childminders or a nanny share.
I have moved from London too and am on a farm outside Edenbridge,so all a bit unsettled at the moment!
I too need childcare at the end of March and also will be working 3 days a week. Maybe we should team up on some research?

Forgive my short email, only just got on line after moving and am so behind on all my emails.

We moved from SE7 to Edenbridge nearly 5 years ago and it's the best thing we've ever done !! We didn't know anyone or the area.

Our daughter was three when we moved and started nursery at Edenbridge Primary School within two weeks of moving in. She absolutely loved it and I was so relieved, she still loves the school and did brilliantly in her year 2 SATS last year. The Nursery is only 15 hrs per week am or pm sessions. Although there are private places like Manic Monsters Day Care for full days.
You could try contacting Edenbridge Childrens Centre on 01732 864045, they may have a list of contacts for childminders/nurseries.

You should find it quite easy to find a place to rent within your budget. We moved to the north side of town. I hope you find Edenbridge as friendly and welcoming as we did.

Good luck

Hi I am a childminder & have worked as a nanny, I also have my own 2 little girls 3.5 & 10mth old. My eldest goes to Church House pre-sch in Edenbridge & Marsh green & I would recommend them both. If you need some childcare I can help you.
With childminding your normally still charged for your children at pre-sch if there to be dropped off & collected, as the childminder is on call should any illness or something occurs & the fact that your taking up a full time space! If its only pick up & for the afternoon & your prepared to collect your child should they fall ill or anything in the mornings then that is different! Going rate in Edenbridge is £5 an hour per child some offer discounts for 2nd child.
Here's where i can help you! I can nanny for you but I would probably have to bring my own 2 girls with me most of the day depending on hours although my 3.5yr old is at pre-sch Mon-wed 9-12 & Thu 9-3. You nether know if your child goes to the same pre-sch would be even better for us all!!
OR I can also have them in my own home as a childminder either way though my girls will be with me & your 2!! but this would benefit your children as they would be gaining play mates already!!
With Childminding I charge £5 an hour a child but would consider discount for the eldest child. Here is my web site for more info www.kiddiwinkschildminding.co.uk. We could meet up & just have a chat with everything!
With nannying I was paid £10 an hour but that was after being there for 7yrs! & with my 2nd nannying job after I had my 1st child I was paid £8 an hour!
Hope this helps please feel free to contact me.
Fay
