Anyone live in or around Middleton, Manchester, please?

Going to a 40th bday party this weekend, and would like to know how feasible it would be to get a cab from there to Manchester Piccadilly to catch a train. AA route planner says it's only 5 miles, so is it do-able?

Metro from Mill Hill involves leaving early and changing stations, so not really an option.

I'm a similar distance from Piccadilly and it would cost about £8-10 quid from here. Depending on traffic, 10-20 mins.
