Primary schools - Harpenden - Wood End or St Dominics

Hi all, appreciate some advice.

We're new to the area so don't have local knowledge and looking at 2 primary schools - Wood End and St Dominics Catholic School.

They both look good but does anyone have any knowledge / personal experience of them?

No direct experience but one friend took her kids out of St Dominics two years ago I think, as she wasn't happy with changes in the way they organise the foundation stage (nursery and reception). She's a teacher herself. It's very well thought of but you may want to double check whether they have an actual teacher responsible for reception - might all have been sorted out now.

Same friend visited Wood End, had daughter on waiting list there and said she saw 'excellent' teaching. Eventually sent her dd private but other friends of mine are Wood End mums and v. v. v. happy. Again, very well thought of, think has fab Ofsted too.

Hi, I have three kids at Wood End, all very happy. Excellent results, good balance of teaching and sport. Would recommend.
