Hello everyone! Am due on Feb 12th - 1st baby - and would love to chat to other expectant local mums... do chat on the main boards regularly but it would be nice to hear from some MK residents!

Hi there I'm not due til July and already have a DD so don't really fit your criteria but just wanted to say hi!

I can recommend a few MK toddler groups and baby activities if that helps for later on though.

FluffyCoo · 21/12/2009 18:44

Hello! That would be brilliant - always nice to get recommendations, it's all just such a lot to take in!

Shame this local board isn't a bit busier eh?

Hey there, am due on Feb 21st, my first also, and live not far from MK :-)

FluffyCoo · 04/01/2010 21:41

Hi divingtesky! Nice to hear from you! How's your pregnancy going - all well I hope? Have to admit, I'm finding it all a bit knackering now!

Will I do? - I have just had a new baby. DD arrived on the 17th December.

I also have a little boy who is almost 3 so I can do recommendations as well

We go to 2 different toddler groups at the moment - which ones would you recommend Ghouls?

FluffyCoo · 06/01/2010 17:37

Hi GoldenSnitch - congrats on your new arrival!

Any ideas for things to do with little one when he/she arrives would be very welcome - I'd like to get out and about as much as possible, so I hope this weather packs it in before baby comes!

There's not an awful lot you can do with a teeny newborn - make the most of it and organise lots of meet-ups for coffee and cake while baby will stay in one place happily - but once your 6 week check is done, you can start Buggyfit classes (although I think they've renamed them - I'll try to remember what to!) if you have any weight you want to lose. When I had DS there was one pretty much every day of the week between 10 and 11 in one or other of the parks in MK. Classes involve fast walks and slow jogs to get your heartrate up and a few stops to do toning exercises with bands. You look like a bit of an idiot but then so does everybody else there. I made a few friends there and it definitely helped me get started with losing the baby weight.

When baby starts paying attention to what's going on around him/her, then the song and rhyme times at the libraries are fun. We used to go to the CMK one but I think all of the libraries do them. They read stories and sing songs, it was great for learning new nursery rhymes.

I think now the new Bletchley Leisure center is open again, the arabian gym classes will start up again. They were great for when DS was just crawling and learning to walk as the whole room had a padded floor so there was no way he cold hurt himself. They did singing too and had a bubble machine which DS loved as well as lots of foam shapes to climb on and over and explore.

We tried the Gymboree thing at the center but it seemed very expensive .

Will be back with some more later - need to feed DD now...

I'm due on 11th Jan (for whatever a date is worth). Hoping to not be snowed in for the big event Thankfully our neighbour is a midwife tee hee!

BuggyFit classes sound good. Do you have anymore info on them please, G'Snitch?

GoldenSnitch · 07/01/2010 20:53

Found it - They're now "Push n Tone" - details are here

Will see you these once DS starts preschool in April and I have some free mornings again

They were great when he was small but I had to quit when he got to about 18 months and wouldn't sit still for a whole session anymore.

chickane · 07/01/2010 21:11

Brilliant! Thanks!

GoldenSnitch · 07/01/2010 21:33

Just had a look -those classes are only on Mondays, I'm sure there are classes other days of the week too.

There are 2 buggyfit instructors that go to my DS's Toddler Group - I'll ask them about other classes when I see them next week and let you know...

One of them is "fitchick" who posted about the Pilates clases on the local page. I'll ask her to stick some details on there about Buggyfit too maybe?

GoldenSnitch · 07/01/2010 21:47

Thought of something else to do...Pushchairs in the Park...

look here Details are under "Activities for younger paks visitors"

When the babies are small, it's a good excuse to get out of the house and have a walk round a park. When they start toddling, there is loads of stuff provided for them to play with on the way round, all organised by the Preschool Learning Alliance. They do arty stuff too (we've done leaf printing and giant paintings) and sometimes have things to eat. The Christmas ones are fab - This year we did the walk then went back to Shenley Pavillion to make christmas decorations and eat mince pies. Then Santa came and gave all the children a present - and it's totally free!!

FluffyCoo · 11/01/2010 15:33

That's absolutely brill - thanks very much for all of the info! I've been stacking into the with abandon during pg, so I think a bit of buggyfit will do me the world of good! Don't suppose you know anything about baby yoga classes? I heard there's one in Newport Pagnell - have been doing pg yoga and have really enjoyed it so would like to try the Mum and baby version...

Ooh, just realised you're due today chickane - how exciting! Hope everything goes swimmingly!!

I would get in touch with Kirsty Heath. She's the Return to Sport Co-ordinator who organises all of the Buggyfit classes as well as other sports activities in MK. She sends out a little booklet (which I can't find my copy of at the moment) which lists all the other classes going on in MK and I'm sure there was Mother and baby yoga in there...

Her e-mail address is [email protected] or phone her on 01908 254456.

If I find my booklet in the meantime, I'll post the details for you.

Good luck chickane Hope baby arrived safely or makes an appearance soon....

GoldenSnitch · 11/01/2010 17:51

Found the booklet online

It's here

Looks like Buggyfit/Push n Tone is going to be Mondays In Campbell park and Wednesdays in Newport Pagnell from February.

There are details about Mother and Baby Yoga at Woughton Leisure Center too. Wednesdays and Fridays.

Bit disappointing as DS is starting pre-school but only on a Tuesday and Thursday morning so I can't go to any of them

FluffyCoo · 19/01/2010 22:14

Ace, thanks again goldensnitch, think I'll definitely give the Campbell Park buggyfit a go - could walk there and back from my house theoretically! Extra exercise!

That's a shame that your DS's pre school days haven't worked with the class times - boo!

Have just started NCT classes so am getting a bit of info from them about activities and meet-ups too - never realised that having a baby could be such a whirlwind of social activity My DH is now convinced that my Mat leave is going to be one long coffee morning/holiday... i think he has a shock coming!
