Can anyone recommend a lovely pub that we can go and have a Christmas meal in?

My parents are coming to us on the 27th and we want to go out and have someone else do all the hard work of cooking and clearing it up afterwards but I don't know where to go?

I've only lived in St Albans for about a year and haven't sampled many of the pubs that do food, or many that don't!

Do you know of a good, child friendly one that is offering a Christmas menu? Preferably one that has a carpark as walking far is a bit of a struggle for my Mum.

We live in Napsbury so one not too far from here would be good.

TIA

My favourite pub to eat is the Windmill at Chipperfield common the food is very good but it's probably not near enough you. I think they don't mind older children but not young toddlers. They have a car park. I will watch this with interest for any other suggestions.

I haven't eaten in it, but the Peacock, next to Beaumont school looks lovely, I had to meet an ebayer there and went inside and it was small and cosy and there was young children in there. They have a carpark.

Thanks all

I had a bit of a festive panic yesterday and thought everywhere would be booked if I didn't hurry up so looked for some online reviews of places in town and have booked us in Lussmans.

Not a pub I know and their Christmas menu isn't particularly traditional either but I figured we'd all have had a roast on the 25th anyway and might fancy a change by the 27th.

Anybody been, is it as good as the reviews say?

Lussmans is more a restaurant than a pub, but the food is really good - in my opinion one of the best eateries in St Albans. They use a lot of local produce too.

If I'd seen this earlier, I'd have recommended the Portland Arms - lovely friendly local pub with a good French chef. Family friendly, good beer, parking .....
