Bugaboo repairs??

Michelle141 · 05/12/2009 16:54

hello!

My bugaboo chassis sheared in two on the right hand side where the silver divet / locking mechanism is on the way home from the shops today and I ideally need to find someone local to fix it. We are out of warrenty (just!) and unsurprisingly bugaboo customer services is highly unhelpful.

If anyone knows of someone who might be able to help I would be very grateful!

www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ may be worth a call

warranty or not pushchairs are expected to last a reasonable length of time

how old is it and where did you buy it?

a former employer of mine used Barnes Buggy Repair Centre (actually in Twickenham!) and really rated it.

sorry that number should be 07946 870958 - not sure what happened there!!

Thanks for that - I'll give them a ring and see what they say. We spoke to Peppermint on Northcote and they said that we have to replace the entire chassis - £200!!

I hadn't considered the consumer people - might ring them too. We bought it at the Baby show in March 2007 but didnt start using it till Aug 2007 when my son was born. The warrenty is 2 years which seems low for such an expensive pushchair.

I really dont mean this is a smug way at all but this is one of the reasons im not a fan of Bugaboos - they are incredibly expensive and from the experiences of my other nanny friends I have never heard anything positive about them, just lots about broken bits. £200 is absolutely ridiculous! Hope you have more luck with Barnes Buggy Repair, i know they fixed a v annoying problem on my employers Phil and Teds, caused by over-enthusiastic baggage handlers chucking it aroudn at the airport, fairly inexpensively!

Dont worry.. you are not sounding smug.. this is not the first problem we've had with the pushchair and I'm not sure I'd get one again - they are pretty heavy and a complete nightmare on buses!

At present I'm making do with my little nursery McLaren which is doing fine - its just harder to transport shopping etc and with a bump I need some help!!

I may've found a chassis on gumtree so I'm investigating that at present but the repair shop is definitely good to know. :-)
