Moving to MK

Hi we have just sold our house and are looking to move to MK just wondered if anybody has reasons for or against this please be brutally honest we came to look at some houses in Monkston and that seems quite nice but just unsure as don't know the area or anybody living there thanks in advance.

Sorry no-one answered your post boobear. This local board is notoriously quiet.

Sorry, have just seen your post. We live in Olney, about 10 miles or so out of MK, and absolutely love it. Have lived here just over a year, moved from London due to husbands work. Great GP, great schools, lovely town with cute shops, nice people, lots of v active churches, v family friendly. We'll probably stay for anther year or so than go back to the big smoke, but if I could raise my family here, I would. HTH.

In my opinion ecah estate/ area has it's nice bit and it's not so nice bit.
There are alot of new builds currently going up but also plenty of character homes in area's such as Stony Stratford. Milton Keynes is fairly green - with trees and grass where ever there isn't a house built. I personally like the grid system and the shopping centre isn't bad either. I would recommend MK to live but would say pick your area carefully. What sort of home are you looking for?

Olney is a bit like Royston Vasey, have bee here 14 years. Was ok when children younger but unless you have relatives that are part of the Olney Mafia, you will never fit it. Looks good driving through, living here, with Teens - Ugh, give us London anyday. MK and Stony Stratford a better bet.

Hi i live here in mk and am from london originally i think its brill here the people are friendlier than london and we have the best of both worlds countryside and a city on top of each other and so much more than where w lived before for kids / families to do ive never regreted it for a second, its much cleaner than central london too i live just outside stony stratford a lovely little old town with a high street.

hi i forgot to say the schools some are brilliant obviously some not so but ive been lucky enough to get mine in what i consider the best school in mk in a very good part of the city they go to The Hazeley and are heading for A* which is very common at this school other good schools here are walton high and denbigh and shenley brook end all very good senior schools
