There is no hard and fast rules on catchment areas these days. It's all done on a points system. The more catagories you fall into, the more chance you have.

For example, if your lo has specific educational needs that a school offers, you move up the list. If your lo is from a vunerable family, you move up the list.

The list of reasons is in the front of the applying for primary booklet. You can get it from the school or library.

Using code, which school are you interested in? I know you live quite close to the fish roundabout, yes?

Very cryptic MML

MaureenMLove · 01/12/2009 18:21

Well, not a lot of people have fish on their roundabouts!!

When I think about it, it's not that important to be crypic is it? This is MN local, so everyone on it, should theroretically know the fish roundabout and the initials of all the schools! Doh!!

True enough!

Yes nearish to the Fish roundabout. Ive looked at Lessness Heath, Belmont and Bedonwell. Wasnt as impressed with Bedonwell as i was hoping but might put it 3rd

Shouldn't be a problem with Lessness Heath and I know children from Slade Green that go to Bedonwell. Not so sure about Belmont though. It's a relately small school, so the criteria will be much harder to beat!

clarebear1 · 01/12/2009 21:28

Thanks. im 2.5 miles from belmont and 2 from bedonwell says the aa router if that makes any difference

I can vouch for Bedonwell. My DCs go there - infants is ofsted "outstanding" two inspections running. Juniors is "outstanding" in many areas and definitely in my opinion. I think it's a great school, my children are very happy there and achieving well and there is lots of extra curricular stuff going on to interest them too. They are in years 3 and 6. I have no complaints at all.

I know lots of people who have kids at Belmont too - only really heard good reviews.

I wasn't impressed with Lessness when I visited there (few years ago now).

I think you need to talk to lots of people but rely on your gut instinct. Bedonwell seems to have children from as far away as Thamesmead and Slade Green. It's a four class intake so I suppose that's why, it has more spaces!

clarebear1 · 03/12/2009 11:09

Thanks for that.
Yeh ive noticed bedonwell had all 1s in ofsted report except for attendance which is 3 and the other school mostly are 2s. But ur right gotta go with my gut feeling too and hear some more reviews, thanks
Keep them coming ;-)
