Hello
hoping to move to Tooting Graveney from Lambeth in the new year, but when I look on the internet all the one o'clock clubs, and stuff seem to be miles away from where I'll be. Anyone give me hope there would be something to do with a newborn and a toddler? Am scared that I will be locked in the house and never see anyone again....

Hi. I'm in Furzedown, just next to the Rec. There are LOADS of things to do. The neighbourhood is basically packed with either baby & toddlers or teens who go to the excellent Graveney. I have an 18 month and a 3 and a half year old. I've been here two and a half years. There's something on most mornings - music, drop-ins, the Family Centre, the park and the Common are both excellent. There are two one o'clock clubs nearby if that suits your times - mine have always slept then. My daughter went to Family Centre last year and has just started at Furzedown nursery. St Alban's Church has drop ins on Tuesday and Thursday. The Well at St James's is Tues & Friday mornings. Rhythm adn Babes at St Jamess is Mon and WEds. The toy library on Franciscan is great. Which road are you moving to?

Hello dewey that all sounds excellent! I haven't heard of half of these places but wonder how far away they are. I'm reluctant (paranoid) on a talkboard to say exactly where I'm moving to but its in the Sellincourt area rather than Furzedown unfortunately! Still seems lovely....Do you think those places would still be reachable in a decent time? I reckon it's going to take me about 25 mins to walk to the common....realistically

Hello,
I live in the area too. There are quite a few things going on within 10-15 walking distance from you. There is Caterpillar Music in All Saints church on Franciscan Road, the toy library that deweydell mentioned is in the same road and a little playgroup run by a woman called Margaret, based now in Franciscan School as well. I think she does it twice a week, the playgroup that is, and storytelling time too. Tooting Library is meant to reopen in February and I expect they will have story telling sessions again there. Walking from Sellincourt Road to the Common (via Franciscan Road), even though up hill will take you only about 25-30 minutes, I thought it was great exercise. Hope this helps.

I sometimes live by All Saints Church, and spent my maternity leave in Tooting. I had no idea that there was a toy library - are you sure everyone isn't just breaking into our house?
The common is great, and there's a mother and toddler group in All Saints twice a week - Friday mornings, and ??Tuesday. There are loads of notices on the board there all relevant.
I went to a fab mother and baby group in the Long Room Pub, so on the main street near Somerfield (close to you) on Wednesday mornings, 10.30. Everybody was really friendly and it was a great way to get to know other mums and other things to do.
Go for a coffee at La Mediterranea on Franciscan, and you're bound to see at least one other mum there. On your way to the common!

Are you a church goer, btw? I recommend All Saints. It's very child friendly, and the vicar and his wife have just had their first baby.
