Hello
We are planning to move to penarth later this year/early next year.
We have two children under two!
Does anyone have any advice on which are good areas to rent/buy?
We'd like to be in the catchment area for a good primary school, and possibly secondary school. We will rent to begin with, but would love to hear everyone's thoughts on where to live.
Plus would love to know about "what's going on" for Mums & Babes too.
Cheers!

lucky you!(envy) Penarth is a fabulous place to live in wales.Generally all of penarth is nice. They did have a large block of flats called the billybanks but they have almost turfed them out to make way for new houses to be bulit"soon". I don't know a bad primary in Penarth but Stanwell is an excellent secondary. Evenlode is a good primary as it is in an even more wealthy part of penarth. The marina is nice but not particularly baby friendly.small gardens but a large park. The vale of glamorgan has the best results in south wales for gcse's so it's a great place to live and penarth has lovely shops. Hope you have a lovely time!

We moved to Penarth in January and it is lovely, everyone is very friendly. Plenty to do for the little ones from classes to playgroup and mother and toddler sessions. Also lots of nice parks and the beach. The information that I have received is that Stanwell is the best secondary school and the three feeder schools for this are Evenlode, Albert and Victoria which all have excellent reputations. I hope the move goes well.

I'm from Penarth! Don't live there any more but I went to Stanwell and my brother was at Evenlode.

Even if you were to buy somewhere on the side overlooking the marina (john street, Queens road, padget road) or around the town (Bromfield place, Plassey street etc) you would still be in the right part for Stanwell school catchment area I'm sure.

What kind of property do you want? You can get some HUGE houses in Penarth.

We are thinking of moving to Penarth this summer. We've heard mixed messages about Penarth traffic and how long it takea to get out of Penarth in the morning. My husband might need to drive to Bristol or get the train to Bristol. Is living in Penarth and working in Bristol realistic? I would also also appreciate advise on good local primary schools. Many thanks
