Hi all,

Firstly, hope you all have fun at your meet-up tomorrow!

Secondly, we're moving next weekend and I'm damned if I'm going to cook on moving day. So can I have your suggestions for good takeaways in Hove - near Hove Station. Anything with interesting flavours - Indian, Turkish, Spanish, etc etc - would be great. DH not keen on pizza unless it's home-made.

Cheers!

they're all shit.

truly hardly any good takeaways in Brighton/hove. It was a shock to me when I moved here.

I will think though because there is one good indian (on New Church road, but can't remember what it is) and a good thai near Hove station. Can't remember what that is called either. erm will ask dh.

Pollyanna · 19/06/2009 22:00

dh recommends Ashoka (Indian) and Thai Connection. Both of these are in Hove, on New Church Road.

apparently the Thai at Hove Station has closed and we can't remember the name of my Indian.

MrsMerryHenry · 20/06/2009 07:23

Thanks Pollyanna! Just as well we hardly eat takeaways, then!

I'll call Ashoka.

ooh, just realised that Thai Connection is not the one that's closed. Brilliant. Have put both your recommended restaurants on my list.

There is a really good Thai place on Portland Road - I'll ask my sister who lives near there what it's called.

coffeecups · 25/06/2009 11:51

Kambi's do deliveries (Lebanese) Details in the phone book with a menu printed there too.

coffeecups · 25/06/2009 14:41

Mair Kim is the name of the Thai place on Portland Road

RnB · 25/06/2009 14:50

I second Thai Connection

RnB · 25/06/2009 14:51

Brilliant Chinease on Blatchington Road. Indians on New Church Road. So glad DP lives where he does

Also, check out www.eatin365.com as has links to take out companies in Brighton.

furrycat · 10/07/2009 11:51

What's the name of the Chinese on Blatch Road? I haven't yet found a good one!

ErikaMaye · 10/07/2009 16:23

Ohh theres a good question!!! I have to go past it on the way to DP's on Sackville, will check it out tonight and let you know!

ErikaMaye · 13/07/2009 13:02

Shanghai Express There's another one as well, but forgotten the name. Shanghai is where we order from and its pretty good.

furrycat · 13/07/2009 13:48

Thanks!

ErikaMaye · 13/07/2009 14:06

No problem

brightonlad · 13/07/2009 14:12

Shanghaii express is the best chinese locally, (maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GBfficial&hs=sy0&um=1&ie= UTF-8&q=shanghai+express+hove&fb=1&split=1&gl=uk&view=text&latlng=16443949699340673479)
Salt and pepper squid with chilli and gralic is their best dish.

If you can get hime to rethink on pizza then la cucina is really excellent - get the caramelized treat (comes meat or veggie). Murasaki is good for Japanese food - excellent bento boxes but a little pricey. Sea horse fish bar on Blatchington road is where it's at for f&c. I don't do Indian that often but Ashoka is meant to be good.

brightonlad · 13/07/2009 14:13

I reckon fortune house is the best chinese on blatchington road.
Damn I love takeaways.

ErikaMaye · 15/07/2009 17:36

THAT'S the name of the other one, I just couldn't remember!!! haha
