Right
I am the boss now, savvy?
But no, I am the new tsarina of the Exeter local site, which has become a bit shite. Why did noone answer my cloudy water post a few months ago eh? It's rivetting stuff.
I'm going to try and keep it bumped every couple of days or so, so it stays sticky at the top of your active convos. Or you can subscribe to the mumsnet local section. Basically I want to know what's going on locally, anything good you have done (like Haldon forest and the dirty Phoenix burgers ), so everyone else can find out about them too. It's going to be especially useful with the dreaded half term coming up... If noone posts I will just post myself until someone comes to join me.

I didn't see the bike race but we did go to the kite festival yesterday. DP is very enthusiastic about kites.

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 20:51

I saw the woman riding the unicycle with the violin. Was very impressed
I have neglected this thread of late. If anyone fancies getting a sweat on while watching others jog run around town, the Michelmores Charity Run starts on the green at about 6 on Tuesday. I used to work for this lot and it's always good fun. I usually get a takeout pizza from ASK, sit myslf down on the grass and yell encouragement at the people warming up

no thanks, i'll only get shit on again.

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 22:26

It's meant to be lucky you know. I remember having a very narrow escape one time as I stepped into school and an incontinent bird did a crap the size of a cowpat right in front of me. That would have looked spectacular on my head

OP posts:
nevergoogledragonbutter · 31/05/2009 22:28

it happens to me a lot!

a seagull got me once right down my front,i had the get the bus home with it still there, i was gagging the whole way home.

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 22:33

Then you must be exceptionally lucky. You won't get crappe don on the green. Not since they cut down the trees. It would be extremely unlucky if you did

drowninginclutter · 31/05/2009 22:39

I've had a seagull crap in my coffee at work. Fortunately I noticed the splash or it would have been a really nasty last mouthful [yuck emoticon] (why don't they have one of those, I needed it when I googled DB)

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 22:40

That's the best I can do. That really is vile

OP posts:
littlelamb · 31/05/2009 22:41

O I can do worse. My friend had a worm infested cod served up to her this weekend. I will get the name of the restaurant for future avoidance. Was somewhere in Teignmouth

Eeeew! If it's a competition DP was once eating some brie and going on about how lovely and ripe it was. Cut off the next chunk and found maggots...

Jux · 31/05/2009 22:53

I'm near Exeter, too. (I thought I'd subscribed to the local MN, but found myself on netmums instead - huge shock)!

I'd like to recommend the Honiton Pottery and Milkbar. It's good for rainy days; you go upstairs and can paint pottery. They will fire it and send it to you or you can go back and collect it the next week. They have lots of pottery to choose from, from plates to skulls to princess castles. Keep a whole family quiet for hours; they do food and drinks too, but we don't usually avail ourselves of them as I think they're a bit expensive.

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 22:55

Oo that sounds fab Jux. There's MakeArt in Exeter that sounds a bit similar. I keep meaning to write properly about it. I'm not sure I'm seeing the proper local version iyswim? I think it actually needs to be set up. Other areas seem to have a completely different set up. I will get onto MNHQ abut it. If anyone has dc with them on Thursday or Friday, they do a wonderful one hour art session.

I did the Michelmores fun run 3 or 4 years in a row, but not last year as too pregnant, unfortunatley this year just too darn fat and unfit!

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 23:02

BCLass, they cheekily asked me if I would do it last year, it was on my due date Was such a nice company to work for, I helped organise the marketing events, so this and the yacht race were the highlights of my year

BCLass · 31/05/2009 23:09

LL - Have a lot to do with Michelmores professionally (am accountant).

Are you on mat leave?

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 23:14

Kind of. Was on maternity leave and then got made redundant 2 months ago. I do miss it. But at the same time, it was a hard job to do with just dd, with ds as well I don't think I could have gone back full time anyway, but I will be lucky to find such a family friendly company again.

OP posts:
BCLass · 31/05/2009 23:20

That's a shame - I think marketing is getting squeezed all over, with us too.

BCLass · 31/05/2009 23:22

Oh and meant to say - was me with DD in the close at the meet up (a while ago now!)

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 23:24

Well, I did my bit but I wasn't vital to the operation
I know they're very good at agreeing to flexibe working but in a way I'm glad it happened when I was still on leave. I'd have been a lot more upset if I'd organised childcare and got laid off a month later. I'm looking forward to seeing them all work up a sweat though . One of the hazards of having a gym onsite is the ultra-competitiveness that comes with it! (so I hear. I was shown it on the tour, and have never set foot in there since)

OP posts:
littlelamb · 31/05/2009 23:27

Ah!!!!!!!! Brilliant. I came away scratching my head as I couldn't remember who was who. Very very cute little one you have there I had a Close with ds, then moved onto a Kari Me and now an Ergo (I was the fattie with the Ergo and the ds spreading ketchup everywhere) I miss wrapping him up. I melt now when I see a newborn in one. They do seem to be getting popular don't they. I was sold on mine when a lovely woman in Jojo showed me how it worked- I wore it right out of the shop when he was 5 days old. He's 1 next week

OP posts:
BCLass · 31/05/2009 23:27

We are very jealous of the gym - work in new office opposite with no such facilities!

littlelamb · 31/05/2009 23:28

ooo the brand new bank?? They were just building that when I went on leave. I think we've had a flash new extension since then too.

OP posts:
BCLass · 31/05/2009 23:31

I love my close, but she's getting too big now, keeps slipping down no matter how tight & high she starts. Have graduated to a Storchenwiege (??). Am having fun getting her on my back atm!

I think she's cute! Always nice when people agree! And I remember the ketchup. DD has not figured out dipping yet, just turns bowls upside down and looks puzzled when it ends up down her front!

BCLass · 31/05/2009 23:32

Right have to actually be there at desk and functioning by 7.30 in the morning, so really must go to bed!!!!!

niche · 03/06/2009 21:22

LL you must name and shame the restaurant. We go to Teignmouth fairly frequently as my grandparents live there. Can finally meet you next week, Tues or Thurs if you're free as dt2 will be free of the pox (unless dd1 comes down with it)
