Hi there everyone, Im 24 and my daughter is 6 weeks old. None of my friends have children and I just feel completely alienated from my previous life Can anyone recommend any friendly groups I might try in the Pudsey area? I have car so I can travel. I just thought meeting other new mums might make me feel better. Thanks for any advice.

hi Charlotte. I'm not in Pudsey, but just wanted to say Hi and congrats on your DD

I do know another MNer in Armley which isn't too far from you, and she is in a similar position. I'll point her in this direction if she doesn't see it herself.

There are Children's Centres all over Leeds now; I go to a couple in North Leeds and they are great for meeting up with other mums whilst the children play. It also allows me some one on one tine with my 6mo old while my 2y old plays happily and safely.

There are occasional Leeds/Yorkshire meet ups as well which are usually advertised on here.

Sorry you feel this way. You will find new mums all feel a bit alone and are glad of any excuse to meet for a coffee and compare notes. Take the initiative with those you meet.

Mums and tots group meet at Trinity Church Hall Rawdon (not religious) Fri 9.30-11.30. £1.50 and you get tea and bics!!

Do you have a decent HV? Mine gave me a list of all non-profit gatherings.

ch4rl, congratulations! I felt exactly like you do when my dd was 6 weeks (except I just stayed in the house & cried so you're doing much better than me! )

I'm in Armley which is only a few miles from you. There a lots of baby groups this way (all free):

Baby Massage starts on Monday at the local children's centre, there may still be places (call Rachael on 0113 263 2500).

There is also a bump & babies group at the same place on a Thursday 1-2.30pm. Small group but nice people (I've only been once).

If your bf there is baby cafe at the Venerable Bede Church in Bramley (just on Stanningley Bypass). I haven't been yet but it's Breast Feeding Awareness week so I think activites are planned for this week.

I went to a La Leche League meeting in Farnley on Monday (St Michael's & All Saints Church 10-12 - every 2nd Monday of the month).

Getting out & about will definately help. Are you bf? I'm planning to go to baby cafe this week if you want to meet?

Oh, I didn't tell you where the Children's centre is:

Chapel Lane (side street sort of opposite HSBC). Lovely staff, very friendly.

Hi Charlotte,
Have you had a look through the local groups in the Pudsey Children's Centre Activity Programme leaflet? The leaflets are bright yellow and you can normally find them in the Children's section of Pudsey library (on the bottom of the shelves to your right) or you can ring Sue on 214 6010 and she'll send one out to you.

Also the health visitors used to have listing of local groups, but I don't know if they still do as it was almost 18 months ago I had my son.
