hi everyone, im new to mumsnet and slowly finding my way around lol.
my dh has just been posted to glencorse,penicuik and im wondering if anyone can tell me what the sfa houses are like there. thanks

No idea but Glencorse has lovely lovely walks all around. Hope you enjoy it when you get here .

Whats SFA houses? I'm assuming thats the army houses?
i used to work in Penicuik. The houses I can't really say but looked good sizes from the outside. Remember they had a community centre there with lots going on too for the army families.
Beeslack Secondary school is one of the best school in the area.

thanks for info, yes its army houses. really makes it easier when you hear about an area your moving to

Penicuik is okay. One of the better Midlothian areas one would say.

Right next to Tesco (your house), primary school up the street (big hill), new school being build as we speak.

Headmistress very nice.

hi Penicuik born and bred, when they unmothballed the barracks they did up all the houses for the army families and they are a good size too. Good place to bring up kids you've got the Pentland Hills and woods all round you and dead handy for Edinburgh. Bit of a dormotory town but the council have been improving facilties and the community arts is quite proilific
