Doctor Who exhibition at Kelvingrove - any good?

Son desparate to go to this - aged nearly 6 - not watched the real Dr Who just has the comics, toys and has watched the CBBC programme about Dr Who. Anyone been along yet? Would it be too scary for him? Is it any good or a bit naff - would love to hear some first hand accounts.

haven't been yet but dd1 is thrilled by the idea... she's already touched a dalek, mind, so is pretty laissez-faire about these things.

Hiya Aitch! First time out and proud in cyberspace eh?! Haven't been to see the spring lambs yet - sounds lovely so might suggest a trip at the weekend. Just tried seeing if we could get tickets for this weekend at Dr Who exhibition but it seems to be sold out. It's on for years though isn't it?

Am looking forward to Monday too - can't afford all this holiday entertaining mularkey although to be honest we've kept it cheap and relatively cheerful!

We went on Saturday and had an absolutely fantastic time. DS is 6 (7 in July) and he had a ball. Crapped himself with the Cybermen and Daleks mind you, but loved it all the same.

It was fun, especially with the added excitement that the fire alarm went off and the whole of Kelvingrove had to be evacuated.

If its a nice day take a picnic and go to Kelvingrove Park, it was a really nice atmosphere on Saturday with a bouncy castle.

Thanks MumHadEnough - was wondering whether my son would be scared by anything - he's said he's going to take his sonic screwdriver to fight off any baddies! My son hasn't watched the "real" Doctor Who but watched "Totally Dr Who" on CBBC and likes the Dr Who Adventures magazine and the toys.

Think he would have been impressed by a fire alarm too!

lol. it was very noisy, there is a FUR-EAKING terrifying dr who face thing outside the exhibit and basically it was just costumes and loud noises inside.

Aitch, when did you go? If its the face of boe you're talking about it's now inside.

Yes, its quite scary for kids I think. There are also the Dalek and Cybermen sets which are quite scary too. you can press a button and the Daleks pretend to exterminate you and there is lasers firing etc, quite scary for a kid I'd imagine.

The rest is ok though, ds really really enjoyed it.

lol, no, it was the figure of dr who, with a blank face, onto which was being projected the face of DT giving the 'don't blink' speech. it might have been slightly less terrifying had the projection not missed half of his face...

basically i thought it fel between two stools, not geeky enough for me, not kiddy enough for the kids. not for £7.50 per adult, i mean. it's free for under-fives though.

Re the price, we ended up just buying a family ticket then taking along a nephew as it was cheaper to do that than buy 2 adults and 1 kid.

Right the boy has been with his Dad and seemed to enjoy it. Dad, however didn't and felt that it was a bit static and half-arsed. My son was a bit disappointed that there were no "real" cybermen wandering around. I think he'd seen the promotional leaflet with the cybermen holding a small child by the scruff of their neck outside Kelvingrove - he was ready for a confrontation with his sonic screwdriver. Perhaps that would have scared the living bejeezuz out of some kids though (including my son in reality!!)

My son has said that he wants to see it again with me. I hope he was joking
