Can anyone tell me if there are ducks there to feed please?

Don't think so - fantastic playground, there is a little stream at the bottom of the valley and a sort of pond type bit, but I don't recall there being any ducks.

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 21:31

Shame. I have some stale crusts and I don't feel my children have had enough experience of feeding ducks.

Thank you though for replying.

DG - have you been to Slimbridge at all? You have to pay to get in, but its lovely and you can buy food to feed the ducks - a lovely Easter outing imo

bratnav · 07/04/2009 21:35

You get occasional ducks on the couple of bigger ponds, but not often. I walk my dogs there at least twice a week.

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 21:44

Puss, the bit about paying puts me off. It is quite expensive to visit Slimbridge isn't it? I know it is for a good cause, but I really need to find free things to do. It is amazing that somewhere as interesting as Blaise is absolutely free.

Yes it is a bit pricey...DS got taken as he's PFB and all that ...if have DC no 2 it will probably get given a rubber duck in a paddling pool in the garden and told to feed that...

There is a lovely river walk near UWE and not far from Fishponds...Snuff mills...not sure what its called, but there are ducks there

ilovemydogandMrObama · 07/04/2009 21:52

Oldbury Court

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 21:54

Its near a mini round about - tescos in one direction, a big park type eastate the other, UWE the other and then the remaining exit is the road where the river walk leads off - do you know the one I mean?

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 21:56

LOL Puss! Not a clue! I don't actually live in Bristol but I know some parts. Is UWE anywhere near the Sainsburys in East Filton?

Where is Oldbury Court (roughly )

OP posts:
PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 21:59

If its the Sainsburys by the MOD, then yes, it is near UWE - I used to nick borrow trolleys from there when a skint student and couldn't afford to taxi it back with my shopping...

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 22:02

Yes that Sainsburys. Not that I shop there anymore as it always cost me too much. So can you give directions from there? Or would that be too complicated?

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 22:03

Hang on, I'm trying to find it on a map for you....

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 22:10

Right, the road is River View from what I can see - there is parking there and the river is in Snuff Mills park, but it does run down to the Oldbury Court Estate...

bratnav · 07/04/2009 22:13

Head towards M32 on ring road, turn right at lights towards UWE, straight on at UWE roundabout. Follow road to end, turn right at lights. Turn left at the mini roundabout at the bottom of the hill. 50 yards along is a tiny left turn signposted Snuff Mills, there is a car park there, also a little shop/tea room.

Ta da!

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 22:14

Ah ok. I can find that on a map. So this riverside walk and Oldbury Court are pretty much the same place?

OP posts:
bratnav · 07/04/2009 22:15

Also, if you follow the path along the river, cross the river and head up a bit of a hill there is a fantastic play area.

bratnav · 07/04/2009 22:16

Yes, I've known it as Oldbury Court Estate, Snuff Mills and Vassalls Park, but it is all the same place

DumbledoresGirl · 07/04/2009 22:18

I am dropping ds1 off with a friend in Bristol tomorrow so maybe I will search this place out for the others. Thanks.

OP posts:
PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 22:19

Bratnav - is that the Vassalls park play area or?

bratnav · 07/04/2009 22:21

Yes, the bit with the play area at the top of the hill

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 22:23

Ahh, I had no idea they were linked like that - never walked far enough from the Snuff mills end! DS likes V.Park!

bratnav · 07/04/2009 22:28

Yes, if you walk away from the play area along the path you walk down a hill and hit the river walk.

navyeyelasH · 07/04/2009 22:38

There is an awesome duck pond long ashton way - don't know the area just know how to drive there! If you tell me where you are I bet I know a duck pond - I'm a nanny !
