Hello all!

I haven't been living in Streatham very long and I would love to meet some other Mummies or Mummies-to-be in the area. I've got a 8 week old daughter and it's about time I started getting out and about a lot more!

Hi there, I've recently moved to the area and would be up for a catch up. Got a DD of 2.5 years and due again in November. Not sure if you've been checking the thread or not but get in touch if you are!

helenbu · 21/04/2009 20:42

Hello!

I just replied to your message on the other thread about meeting up on thursday this week. Probably easier replying on there!

Don't know if you are still looking at this thread but I am a Streatham mum with a 9 week old daughter and would be happy to meet up with some other mums.

helenbu · 09/06/2009 18:04

Hello Charlybaby,

We're meeting up again soon (don't know details yet) but I'll put them on here when we've got something organised. See you soon!

Hi,

I am in Streatham Hill (off telford avenue) with a 4 yr old at school and a 3 month old. Would love to meet for a coffee - can I join you ladies?

notcitrus · 22/10/2009 21:51

Hi folks, I'm round Streatham Common with a 13mo and would love to meet more parents of toddlers and beyond.

There's the Streatham Hub children's centre between the ice rink and go-kart place which has various sessions for toddlers - I'm often there for Wednesday's stay&play from 10 to 11.45.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 22/01/2010 16:44

Hi Everyone!

I'm in Streatham Hill, near the station, and expecting my first baby in May 2010.

I realise this is quite an old thread, but just wanted to make myself known in case anyone is still checking and you're planning any further meet-ups in the future.

minimoonumbertwo · 25/01/2010 14:04

Hi Marquise I am also expecting in May - it will be my second as already have 2 yo ds but he's at nursery 3 days a week.

If there is still a meet-up i would love to join!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 28/01/2010 14:29

Hi Minimoo, glad to see there's another Streatham person expecting in May!

Looks like nobody else is still checking this thread. Perhaps we'll have to arrange our own meet-up.

Do you mind if I ask whether you had to book your DS's nursery long in advance and whether you would recommend it? We will need a nursery in about a year's time, and have heard some horror stories from people in other areas about how far in advance you have to reserve a place!

minimoonumbertwo · 01/02/2010 13:15

Hi Marquise

Yes let's do it! Are you on an ante-natal thread on here? I am actually on the June one (got my dates wrong at the beginning!) and it's fab.

We did book ds into nursery while i was pregnant as i knew i wanted to go back to work when he was one. They do have a waiting list but i think it was only 6 months or so at the time so you'll be fine! He goes to Abacus on Drewstead Road, really close to Streatham Hill station which has been brilliant for him. Of course there are positives and negatives with any nursery but the care there is absolutely brilliant and we have been really pleased with it. Also it's quite cheap! . I think they only take children from the age of one thouh, when were you planning on going back to work?

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 01/02/2010 15:12

Well, I'm hoping to take a year off, and planning to start my maternity leave the day before the due date (with a couple of weeks off as annual leave before then), so it sounds like Abacus would work quite well if the baby's roughly on time! I noticed abacus when they opened up the side entrance to the the station, and thought it would be ideal for us, location-wise, so it's good to hear positive things about it.

I'm on the May ante-natal thread, and finding it really useful, especially being able to pick the brains of more experienced mums.

Did you do NCT classes before you had your son? I found it really hard to decide which class to do - there's nothing really in Streatham Hill, so I signed up to the Balham / Tooting borders one, which seemed a bit closer than the Streatham one, which as far as I can tell is pretty much in Mitcham!

mimsum · 14/02/2010 22:15

The NCT Streatham classes aren't in Mitcham!! They're in Furzedown which is just the other side of Tooting Common. Most of the parents are from Streatham Common/Streatham Hill/Streatham Vale/Furzedown areas so the groups gel really well together post natally.

minimoonumbertwo · 15/02/2010 14:22

sorry marquise, haven't been checking this thread! i did do NCT but the other girls were quite spread out (clapham junction/tooting bec/wandsworth common) so we found it difficult to meet that regularly and we hardly ever meet up now, although we are still in touch.

How's the pregnancy going? i suddenly feel enormous!!

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 15/02/2010 18:01

hi minimoo! The pregnancy is going well so far, thanks, how are you? Apart from the kicks and nudges to remind me that there's a little person growing in there, I haven't really felt any different to normal yet. Still, I'm just into the third trimester now, so that may well change shortly! I think my bump has made a bit of a growth spurt recently too, but all I get from everyone else are comments on how small it is.

mimsmum - I had such a dilemma deciding which NCT class to sign up to! The NCT person who was responsible for the area was on maternity leave when I was signing up, and the classes were being temporarily co-ordinated by someone in Bristol, who quite understandably couldn't offer much local knowledge of the catchment areas for each class. So I just google mapped them and signed up to the one that was closest to me (which is by Tooting athletics track). Now you've made me wonder if I've chosen the right one! Oh well, they start next Tuesday, so I guess I'll find out soon enough where everyone else is based.

cowley47 · 23/02/2010 22:37

Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself as another Streatham mum I have a 2 year old toddler who also goes to Abucas.

cowley47 · 23/02/2010 22:47

Just wanted to add another message if anyone does want to meet up what is the best to contact each other just noticed you can not email directly or you have to pay a fee.

I posted on here a while ago but forgot to look on thread easy to forget when your a busy mum and as far as I can see this web site dosent send you an email reminder if some one replies to your message.

minimoonumbertwo · 01/03/2010 12:29

Hi cowley,

i think there is a meet ups topic? but i keep this thread on my 'watching' list so i know when someone else has replied.

Would love to meet up! i am around on Thursdays & Fridays before i go on maternity leave at the end of April. Is Perfect Blend a good place to meet?

cowley47 · 01/03/2010 13:53

Hi,

I didnt realise there was a watch this thread above - thanks for that tip!

Are your having your second child?

My daughter is at nursery fridays and with family thursdays but I have alot of holidays to take in march so I will be around.

Wil let you know when I book my holidays is after this week.

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 01/03/2010 14:01

Hi Cowley and Minimoo
If there's a meet-up, then count me in! I'm also still working up until end of April, but have been working from home on days when I have midwife or GP appointments, so can always sneakily schedule an appointment to coincide with a meet-up! Perfect Blend would be ideal!
Hope you're both well.

Boobz · 01/03/2010 17:59

Hi peeps -

Just in case people wanted to combine threads - there is another meet up planned for 3 or so of us in Streatham in the coming weeks... it's in the ante natal groups topic in the main section of Mumsnet. It gets more traffic there, and was once a very busy thread! I'm trying to revive it a little bit, as I'm now pregnant with my second, and all the ladies I met the first time around on the Streatham thread (all still very good friends) are now all working whilst I'm on Mat Leave.

Anyway - do come and join if you fancy it.
