Hi all.

Need to pick your brains, been in colchester less than a year....

Does anyone know of a baby pool nearby? Just normal pools tend to be a little cold for such a teeny tot (shes 7 weeks!)

Hi...I keep thinking about you. How are you and DD? Congratulations by the way.

The teaching pool at leisure world is warmer than the other pools. There is also a pool near Copford called First Strokes. I know lots of people who like it, but every time I have been there the reception staff have been unhelpful and rude. Apparently the pool and teaching staff are good though.

We go to Braintree Freeport by the way...its free at the moment.

Hi Mung!

I'm doing great thanks. DD is a little Angel. She has slotted herself into a lovely little routine and is like clockwork.

Appart from last week when she got a nasty cold and was so wheazy and rattling that we ended up on the phone to nhs direct who sent us straight to on-call doctor. Scary - but she was OK, and is now over the worst.

Just been thinking of a pool for when she is totally better. As i've got her one of those little body warmer things to wear in water.

HV said there is nothing to stop me taking her swimmming now ( i assumed that you'd need to wait for vaccinations) does that ring true with everyone? How long did you wait? i'm keen to introduce her to the water of a swimming pool (she loves baths) but not at the cost of her health & exposing her to stuff!

Sounds fine to me, we took DD & DS when they were about 4/5 weeks as we go swimming a fair bit.

Just bear in mind DD will get colder quicker then you but lots of body contact/cuddles work well

Lesire World is a lovely pool, they do parent & toddler sessions which save you getting splashed by the biggens

Mung- We went to Freeport after you said you did for the firs time today! Absolutely lovely pool- and well thought out.

Today was a sunday, but i'm just looking at the time table and the 9.30-10.30 parents and baby sessions, are they classes, or just turn up with bubba in tow? as love to go one morning this week.

All I can say about Braintree is that what they say on line or in their leaflets is not always true. The pool is good for building confidence in the water, but not so good for getting them swimming later on.

Glad you liked it.

I cannot help about the parent and baby classes...not sure what they are. Give them a call, as it sounds interesting. I reckon they are lessons...but I may be wrong. Even if they are lessons, if you can just turn up rather than pay for a term then that would be great.
