Good hairdressers/barbers?

I took DS, aged 4, to the Gyle Barbers, £10 to get his hair cut! Blardy rip off.

Any recommendations, particularly in the SW?

There is a good one in York Place opposite The Comedy Club. DH went there for years and the lady Nicky there is lovely.

We take our children to one in Morningside which is around £6 or £7 which I still think is dear for 5 minutes work!

Esq barbers on Viewforth Gardens (just off Bruntsfield Pl) - they charge £7 for a child (or you may be able to negotiate less if it's a very brief cut.) They also do a father & son deal for £15 I think

Gordon Wilson on Salisbury Place are around a fiver a child.

I didnt realise Gordon Wilson's would be so cheap as its really nice. Do you have to book? Might take mine there instead as its handy for me and with 3 of them going really often it will make it cheaper.

I've sometimes had appointments on the spot but usually book. I hope I've remembered the price right! The kids usually have theirs cut by a mobile hairdresser who visits their nursery for £4 a pop which is pretty good.

I took ds to the morningside one (down near morningside station, and it's called Studio 404 or something like that), and they charged a fiver. And they have a cute little panda chair that the kids sit astride. I got them to turn it so ds could see the traffic going past the window and he was still as a statue the whole time!
