Local friends for our family

I have lived in Ealing for 6 months and am finding it impossible to meet people because I don't work and my boys who are 8 and 10 are at boarding school. They have no friends in the holiday time either. We have tried a couple of things including inviting some of our neighbours in for drinks to try and get to know them. But most people work and are so busy.

I'd love to know if there are any groups that get together weekly for a coffee or if someone is in a similar position with boys at boarding school, or if anyone has boys of the same age and are looking for friends during the holidays.

Hello Missmem, I live in Ealing. I do work but I would never turn down the opportunity to make new friends! I have two step children who live with us fulltime, one is a boy of nine (ten in one week)... his school is quite far away so he doesn't get much opportunity to mix with boys from school after school (well zero really). There are a couple of boys in the road he can play with but I think he would love some local friends. Whereabouts are you?
