Somewhere to eat in the west end

I'm taking my mum to a show as part of the comedy festivle in Glagsow - the show is just off university ave.

Would like to go somewhere to eat before hand, I thought of the loft but as its a friday night it might be more pub and less restuarant at 7.30 on a friday?

Has anyone any other suggestions? Preferably as close to the venue as possible - parking over there stresses me out as it is without having to do it twice

Stravaigain (sp??) - fab food, not too expensive, relaxed.
I used to love it, have not been in literally years ... hope it is still there.

Agree with Cafe Andaluz or Stravaigin. No 16 also lovely (or was about 100 years ago when I last went) but quite pricy. And Two Fat Ladies if you like fish.

Is ubigitous chip still there? Its been ages since i've been. There is a lovely italian restaurant on Byres road but cant remember the name of it. Honestly there are loads of places to eat round about university ave. I've also heard that cafe Andulez is nice although i've never been. Hope you have a great time. Have you ever been to the Comedy club? Thats a great night out

No 16 has gone out of business !! Damn that credit crunch!!

Have booked somewhere called the Left Bank? Not sure what its like, just googled for places. It looks nice, will report back!

Thanks for the suggestions. I love Cafe Andaluz in the centre.

The Left Bank is great! Service a bit iffy at times but you will be there early so will probably be fine.

No.16 was only reviewed in The Herald a few weeks ago

Long time no see - how the heck are you???

Enjoy the show, and the meal.

It's terrifying isn't it? DS2 was 2 in Jan and DS1 is supposed to start SCHOOL next year ffs.

I absolutely love Roastit Bubbly Jocks but it's a bit further from Byers Road - it's across from the train station in Partick.

Have you guys registered and tried out the 5pm website? You register with it and if you book your table through them you get it for far cheaper - I use it any time I'm going to Cafe Andaluz and you get 3 tapas with a dessert for £12 which is top value.

Definite thumbs up for Stravagin...yum yum
