Secondary schools in West Lothian

Hi, I'm putting this in both Edinburgh and Falkirk, as I'm not sure where it fits best...

Does anyone have experience of secondary schools in West Lothian? I'm thinking about Linlithgow Academy, Bathgate Academy, and St Kentigern's, though we could consider ones further out at a pinch.

DS would be going into S5, and wanting to study Higher Music amongst other things.

I'm interested to hear how people have found the schools, would they recommend them, etc.

TIA

Linlithgow is meant to be good, has quite a good academic record I think. I know a lady who works at St Kents, they have some problem kids but it's not as bad as Whitburn for that. No knowledge of Bathgate I'm afraid. Good luck

Thanks. Yes, Linlithgow looks much the best, on paper at least, but then it does have the "nicest" catchment in W Lothian. I just don't want to be unfair to the others, which could be lovely schools doing great things with a more challenging catchment area...

Plus of course by Highers most of the more challenging kids will probably have left anyway, which makes a difference...
