Moving to Brentwood environs - anyone here?

Hiya,

I'm a mum to a 22 month old boy and am being made redundant from my job in London - so we're looking at moving out to Essex to be closer to my husbands family and his job which are all based around Brentwood / Ingatestone.

Pretty terrifying thought as I'm going to be not working (thinking of expanding the family ) and also not on my usual stomping ground.

Are there many fellow mumsnetters out there?
Are there any activities you can recommend?
And is everyone open to a newbie joining in the 'scene'??

Thanks all...
Hari.

Hello Hari Yes I live in Shenfield, Brentwood. I have two boys aged 7 and 4 so I have been through the toddler stage with both. I worked 3 days per week with DS1 and have been a SAHM since DS2 was born.

There is loads to do in the area so don't worry you'll be really busy!

Hari What kind of things are you interested in? Mother and toddler groups? Swimming lessons? Tumble tots? Jo jingles? Library sessions? Nurseries? I can pass on all the info I know, no problem at all.

Thanks MadMazza - great to hear there's going to be lots to do.
I've still to be officially made redundant, so heaven knows when we'll actually be moving, but I'm pretty excited as I've wanted to move out of London since having my son (not a place to bring up kids, however nice the place we currently live in)...
We've been touring around most weekends tho' - and trawling t'internet for houses for sale... can't bear the thought of getting our place ready to sell tho' - and keeping it spotless! Yikes!

Hari.

Oooh - all of the above bar nurseries to start I think!
I currently work 4.5 days, so don't have as much time to spend with my son as I'd like. We do Sing and Sign on Saturdays, and just hang with mum friends on Friday afternoons. When I'm off full time I'll be looking for lots to do! And where's the nearest Starbucks

Some say it's not a great time to move but there are bound to be some much more reasonable prices around so good luck in your search for a new home/life. What an exciting time for you!

Don't panic there's a Starbucks and a Cafe Nerro in the High St! I have 2 DDs and am a SAHM in Brentwood - eldest DD is at preschool and we also go to library, soft play places and coffee mornings and events organised by local NCT. Am just about to look for Sing and Sign class for DD2 as did with DD1 and she really loved it.
