I know this has been done before but any up-to date-info welcome. I'm looking for an afternoon baby drop-in session N22/N17ish. DS not seeing enough other babies!! Is Burleigh Rd still going/good? Any more? thanks!!

You should try Stay and Play for Babies at Shropshire Hall on Gladstone Avenue, N22. They change the timetable every few months but at the moment its on Mondays 1.30 - 3.30 and Fridays 9.45 - 11.30. Keep meaning to go to Jolly Babies but haven't made it yet, its supposed to be very good.

You could try the NCT one at CUFOS, top of the Avenue (behind Alexandra Palace) on a Tuesday 3-4.30pm. £1.50 includes cake and you don't have to be an NCT member.

They also have there a list of other local groups tacked to the wall in one of the side rooms, for your perusal.

Thanks! Soldiergirl - what age is stay and play for? DS is 9 months. That's local to us so sounds good!

Well, I guess its for babies up to the age of 12 months. They have separate play groups for toddlers on other days. My DD is 7 months and there are definitely babies there the same age as yours. Its also free, but no cake I'm afraid..

thanks! that's so helpful - the timetable I've got is obviously out of date because it's not on there. Maybe see you there......

No problem, yes I'll try to make it tomorrow. Will prob be there around 1.30.

soldiergirl · 16/02/2009 14:54

Greenpenguin - Forgot it was half term! Went down today and the timetable has changed for this week, so no Stay and Play. Its still on next Monday at 1.30 though, so maybe see you there.

GreenPenguin · 16/02/2009 20:46

thanks - yes, we found that out today, and went to Jolly Babies in the end. Not bad at all!

Burleigh Road still going strong.
Union Church in Crouch End, Weston Park is lovely, but there's a waiting list.
Monday group at Christchurch on Crouch End Hill also lovely, again waiting list.
Haringey Families have one in the Church at the bottom of Cranley Gardens.
Actually Haringey Families would be a really good thing to join if you're looking for stuff to do anyway.

Thanks. Is HF mainly crouchers/muswell hill stuff? I have to say, JB seems to suit us (after the first experience)Informal, very friendly. Will look at HF website.
thanks!

Jolly Babies was one of my favourite groups with DS1, and I plan to start coming again soon now I'm on maternity leave with DS2. I may even bring both of them occasionally as DS1 is only 21 months and JBs now goes up to 3, but am continuing to keep DS1 with his childminder most of the time. It also runs at times like half term unlike many of the Children's Centre groups (which are also often very good).

Whereabouts in Haringey do you live?

elkiedee · 19/02/2009 02:51

Have you enquired re Park Road Children's Centre?

Baby and Me is at Downhills Park School on the borders of N15 (quite near N17/N22) - where West Green Road meets Philip Lane. It's for babies up to a year so your child would be one of the older ones.

Lots of new Stay and Play sessions starting at other children's centres.

Also a free play in the toddler pool at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre on Wednesday mornings - know it's not afternoon but it's worth the effort if you can manage it in my view.

GreenPenguin · 19/02/2009 07:10

This is all brilliant- thanks so much.
We're N17/N22, so Downhills, Noel Park, Turnpike and WG are all very walkable. I'd heard about Downhills but thought it was at the secondary school and got very confused. (They have a nursery there, adjoining the park). Thank you!

And another Children's Centre near you is Broadwater Farm - I took DS1 to a lovely baby group there for a few months when I finally found it at the end of my last maternity leave - on Thursday afternoons. The worker normally running it is on maternity leave herself now but she's due back quite soon, I think.

Baby and Me is Tuesday afternoon, in a building at the side of the primary school further away from the park. It starts at 1 pm and it's a good idea to get there within a few minutes of that as they have to limit it to 16 families - I've heard of people being turned away when that limit is reached.
