Any nurseries / creches bookable for occasional childcare?

Does anyone know of creches or nurseries who will take pre-schoolers without a long-term or regular commitment?

I run my own business and need occasional childcare if I have meetings, but the only creches seem to be at gyms, lol!

hi, i am in exactly the same position as you as i am self-employed and as i have only just moved down here my work is very sporadic to say the least!

i just got in touch with loads of childminders and asked if they would have my daughter on an occasional basis. most of them said they would and it is working out great. we had this same arrangement where we used to live and it was fine. i know some people don't like childminders but we have always been really happy using them and feel it has been a positive thing for everyone including my little girl. you can get a list of childminders from the family information services, then it is just a case of calling round all the minders. hope you get something sorted

Thanks RS. The FIS did suggest childminders and I've now got the list. Good to hear it can work and I'll look into it. (I was starting to think I was the only person with this issue so thank you!)
