My baby is due in April and I am down to have a VBAC at PRU. But am seriously considering having a homebirth if poss. Has anyone any experience of this? Will I have to put up a fight to get one?

Hmm. Not sure about specific question. Don't think the PRUH is especially enlightened and generally I thought that c-sections meant the hospital would argue strongly that VBAC should be in hospital environment. Not sure though.

MY experience of homebirth in Bromley was that they were unable to supply me with midwives when I was in labour and I ended up having to go in (I know I could have held my ground and insisted, but had no idea how far along things were and in the end it was a good decision because I had ds very quickly after arriving and I don't think a midwife would have made it in time).

I lft about 2 hours after he was born though. And maybe this time I'll have more luck with the homebirth!

My next door neighbour had her sixth baby after (VBAC) at home in Bromley. But she is feisty. PRUH is awful, totally into their birth management protocol. Not enough midwives etc I could go on. I had my baby in NOV 08
