Hi there,
my family and I moved to Edinburgh a few weeks ago. I am now looking for a mother & baby group for me and my litte daughter (who is 8 months old), to meet other mums and babys!!! We live in the area of Tollcross & Bruntsfield.
Can anyone "out there" help????

Welcome to Edinburgh. There is lots going on in South Edinburgh and you are in a great part of the world as once your DD is older she will enjoy the great play park at the Meadows.

There is a thread if you scroll down that would be of help to you called "Mother and Baby groups". Good recommendations from there are to buy Edinburgh for the Under Fives, if you google this I think you can buy it on line, failing that its available in all local bookshops, plus Netmums usually good for local listings.

You are not too far from the birth resource centre which has lots of different things on offer.

hi..
did you find any groups? i live in this area and too am looking for a mum and baby group. I have a 6 month old girl, my first so everything is new to me! I would like to know if you find any nice get togethers....

You should get along to Morningside Minis at the Morningside Baptist Church on Holy Corner, next to Luca's ice cream shop. It is on a Monday and Tuesday at 9.30am

Silke, you are not, by any chance, German? DH is German and I know of German playgroups etc if you are.

hi rookiemother & mawbroon, thanks a lot for your hints! Edinburgh for under fives offers a lot of useful information and I already contacted the birth resource centre for a baby music class.......do you happen to have any experience with their classes, mawbroon?

Not the classes no, but I used to go to La Leche League's breastfeeding support group there until I got too busy with work and can't go any more.

Hi Silke

I live in Viewforth (v close to Tollcross and Bruntsfield). There's a great Gaelic toddler group at Tollcross School. It's a small group in a small room, but it's well organised and the parents and children are very friendly!

You don't have to speak any Gaelic (I don't!), but the organiser will chat to your child in Gaelic and we have Gaelic stories and songs at the end of the session. It's 50p per session and runs on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9.15-11.30 in the Community Centre at Tollcross School.

Silke - I thought you might be German because Silke is a German name! There is a German-speaking playgroup at 3pm in the German Lutheran Church in Marchmont on Fridays. I have yet to go, but my German friend says it is excellent. I plan to go next week.

I have an 8mth old DD and I live in Bruntsfield (on Viewforth). I also have an older DD who is 2.5. You can email me on efh2atst-anddotacdotuk if you want to meet as it sounds like we might have a lot in common!

I also go to baby yoga at the Birth Resource Centre with DD2. It is very good, but I think this will be our last sessions at she is getting a bit old for it.

There is a Friday group for 12 months and under at Morningside Babtist church It's either 10:30 -12, or 10:45- 12:15 (it's nearly a year since I've been!) There's generally a Health Visitor there for part of it too.
