MMR research in Ealing borough

Hello Ealing mums,

I am a PhD student at Imperial College, researching how parents decide whether to give their child the first dose of the MMR vaccine.

I would like to interview mums with children aged 11 months to 2 years, who are planning to decline or postpone MMR dose 1, or to give single vaccines.

Interviews are very informal, last about 30-45 minutes, and can be done at your home, workplace, or on the phone. You will receive a £10 voucher (Boots or Wilkinsons) to thank you for your time.

I have spoken to a lot of mums who are accepting MMR for their children, and it is important for my study that I am able to tell both sides of the story. I won't be asking you to justify your decision or trying to convince you to accept MMR - I just want to hear about the thoughts and feelings that have led to your decision.

My study is fully supported by Ealing Primary Care Trust and has independent ethical approval. I will be feeding back my results to the Immunisations Co-ordinator at Ealing PCT and to GPs and Practice Nurses across the borough - so what Ealing mums tell me now can really make a difference for other Ealing mums in the future.

Thanks so much for your interest. I'm actually only looking for mums who are saying no altogether to MMR, postponing it (out of choice) or opting for the single shots.

This is just because I've spoken to a lot of mums accepting MMR already, so I need to get views from the other side now.
