Have posted this on the main board as well, but been recommended to try here.
My mum died 4 years ago, and my dad is very lonely - and would love a cat. He has had cats before so is very well aware of what this would entail. He lives in East Keswick, has a large garden (1/3 acre) and house isn't too close to a main road. He has a cat flap.
The thing is that I would like to do this as a surprise for him. If I go through someone like the Cats Protection League they will insist on an interview/home inspection, which would obviously spoil the surprise.
And as I live in London it's a bit complicated to organise from here!
I don't want to get a kitten in London and then drive it all the way up to Leeds as I think this would be a bit too tramatic for the poor animal.
So - do you have a cat that has had or is having kittens? Or do you know anyone else locally who has?
Hopefully thanks in anticipation!
