Help me find a new hairdresser!

I used to go to Charlie Millers - but with all my hairdressers leaving and the credit crunch I am on the hunt for somewhere new.

Anyone got any recommendations in central Edinburgh for a good cut and colour?

I like Panache on Morningside Road. All the stylists are good and I'm pretty sure you will find it cheaper than Charlie Miller. It as £50 for a cut and colour last Saturday.

Yup, I really like Charles Kivlin on the corner of Dublin Street and Albany Street. They're really good. Charles Kivlin has cut my hair really well, but he was on holiday when I got my hair restyled so now I have Vicky there. She's just sooo loverly and she has really nice non-hairdresser hair herself which I find very reassuring!

Hot Head, West Nicholson Street (opposite the pear tree pub) - £30-35 for a cut. Very funky but friendly too.

second panache, been there before and it was good.

also really like studio 10 at the moment. it is not city centre but next to dominos pizza round the corner from gorgie asda.

£25 for cut and blow dry.

BeBaBoom opposite St James Centre - ask for Jack. Used to be head honcho in Cheynes then set up his own business. Costs about £45.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh - lots to choose from - thank you Edinburgh ladies! Am trying a place called Moda down in leith - but if that is a disaster at least I have all your recommendations to fall back on!

I recently had a v good cut at Cheynes on Lothian Road. (My hair is unbelievably tricky to cut well...v v thick and unruly with a mahoosive cow's lick). I think her name was Katy.

i get mine cut at telford college
£6!!!

Hopeforamiracle · 03/01/2009 11:11

Hi Nailpolish what did you think of Moda in Leith? I go to Patersons in Leith and much as I love it, it's a bit pricey at £125 every six weeks for a cut and colour.

meep · 03/01/2009 11:53

Hopefor it was me that went to Moda - they were very good - I think it cost me about £90 for cut and full head of highlights. The 2 girls that run it are Charlie Miller trained and I came out with a pretty decent haircut - so give it a try? It doesn't have that "luxury" feeling you get from the more pricey salons - but I'd really rather not have to pay for my surroundings! They are also open late at night and on Sundays which is pretty handy.
