Mother & Toddler groups in South Edinburgh?

Tatties · 18/11/2008 18:20

I know ds is probably too old for toddler groups now (3.7) but I thought it was worth asking if anyone had first hand experience of any groups in this area which do have older children attending. He won't be going to nursery/pre-school yet for various reasons (we have only just moved here) but he could really do with having some contact with other children of a similar age. Any suggestions welcome!

hi! don't know much about s. edinburgh too posh for the likes of me. i know the steiner school has a playgroup. health visitor or local library is probably a good place to start finding out.

Hi no advice about toddler groups but there is an Xmas meet up for mums on the 20th of December if you want to come along?

It is at Cafe Rouge and there is a thread on it in Meet ups. Can't do links sorry.

Mawbroon etc live up your way IIRC so they may be able to help with groups.

I have a 3.6 year old & 18 month old and have been going to groups at St Peters, Lutton place (mon & thurs mornings) and the one in the big church on West Saville Terrace on a wed morning. the St Peters one seems the friendlier of the two.

I also go to St Peter's..have a 2 year old DD..I agree, it's really nice and friendly there!

I haven't been myself but fairmilehead has a group for toddlers up to 5 years. I think it's quite popular link.

liath - I'm sure we have met but I am now embarrassed because of my name on here!

liath · 18/11/2008 19:35

Ha - I believe we may have ! Love the posting name. Didn't realise you were a MNer.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/11/2008 19:45

Thanks! I think we should have a secret handshake!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 18/11/2008 19:46

(like a Masonic one)

Tatties · 18/11/2008 20:43

Oh great lots of ideas thanks everyone!

Lutton Place would probably be the easiest for me atm. Is it ok to just turn up (I could attempt to come this Thursday if so [nervous]) or do you need to call in advance?

Agalch thank you for the tip off about the xmas meet up - I will have a think. I would like to but ds is a bit unsettled atm so feel a bit iffy about going out at night.

Hi Goat!

Yeah no pressure. If too soon you can maybe make the next one

liath · 18/11/2008 20:46

You just turn up, Tatties - I'd offer to meet you and share a masonic handshake but if the weather is Ok I was planning to go to East Links. I might be going next monday, though.

Tatties · 18/11/2008 21:11

Thanks for the offer of a masonic handshake liath Well I might just brave it on Thursday and maybe see you Monday if we can make it
Agalch will definitely look out for the next one

You too, Tatties. Hopefully will see you there again. We don't go every week but it's a nice place to spend the morning if the weather's not so great.
