Haberdashers in Richmond?

DH has lost a button on his coat. I'm trying to avoid trekking all the way into Kingston, paying for parking and braving the mania of John Lewis just to find one solitary button. Anyone know any good button shops within walking distance of central Richmond?

Brilliant. Thank you! DH will be pleased as he refuses to wear the coat without the button (vain? my husband?) and with the Met Office saying it's going to be -2 by Wednesday I've got to get it sorted.

you do realise that it will be impossible to match and you'll have to buy and sew a whole new set?

Yeah - I know. Don't worry though. He will do the sewing (he can't darn but he can sew). Last week he was sewing buttons back on his boxer shorts. (I've made him promise to try wearing the type which don't have buttons.)

Meanwhile his slovenly wife has worn a winter coat missing 2 buttons for 3 winters in a row now (and looks set to wear it that way for a fourth).

perhaps he could do your buttons too whilst he's got the sewing kit out ...

did you have to replace them all or were you lucky?

Well it was a very close match but DH is quite particular so I got three to make sure(40p each - even in the credit crunch I'm sure that won't break the bank). The new ones are actually nicer than the originals.

I enjoyed Woolgars. Eyed up some curtain fabric while I was there.

I had to have some huge curtians made once - without a huge amount ofmoney so had Woolgars make them up with generous proportions out of cream calico at about £4 a metre - they looked fab.

Very useful to know. I assumed they would be expensive as they are based in central Richmond.
