I don't know if anyone else has been following the case of baby P but what happened to him is horrific.

Wtf is going on here? Does this sort of thing happen all over this country?)

(if you want to read about the case then google Jason Owen Haringey)

But be warned, the details are very upsetting. Sorry I don't normally do this sort of thread but this case has really got to me.

Yes, it's a really horrible story. I don't know how many cases there are of such nastiness around the country, but I'm not sure that any social services system is going to be able to guarantee to pick up on such things. Children and Families social workers are generally looking at whether people are able to look after their children not looking out for signs that someone might be as sick as the adults in this case appear to have been. The injuries in this sound rather more deliberate than most physical abuse cases.

Fair point elkie

I just can't comprehend pre-meditated abuse. I read earlier today about a similar case where the father has been sentenced to a minimum of 20 or so years in prison.

On a completely different note I see Ally Pally is holding the the usual fireworks display and is charging for it (or is that not new??) my dc are scared of fireworks so I haven't been for years!

I will be away for half-term so if you could put up a note re this. Thanks elkie

Three people have been found guilty causing or allowing the death of this poor child.

The case has been described as "worse than Climbie"
