Welcome! Unfortunately my children are much older so I have no up to date info re playgroups. Just wanted to welcome you to the area as well as to MN!

Welcome to the area!
I know there's a drop in playgroup at the leisure centre (Latimer Rd) on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 that your toddler might enjoy. It's £4.50. They also have "baby splash" a few times a week which your baby might like. I met some mums at a music group (Monkey Music) - they have lots of venues in Wimbledon. Also, Buggy Fit up on Wimbledon Common was good for meeting people - but prob only suitable for you if your 4 year old is at nursery/pre school one morning. I'm on blackberry so can't do links now, but sure you can find both on google. Also, go to the library and see when they do story time and the like.
I'm in Raynes Park so slightly out of your area but feel free to email me if you like ([email protected]). I have one DD who is 9 months.

There are some playgroups close to you. In the YMCA on the Broadway they have a drop in playgroup 5 mornings a week during termtime. It is friendly and worth going to with both your children. I think there is also a playgroup on Wednesday morning in the church on the Broadway - sorry cant remember its name.

A little further away on the Kingston Road there is a playgroup held in the Salvation Army building on Mondays and Thursday mornings at 9.30-you need to go on the waiting list -sorry but they are good playgroups and popular hence the waiting list.

HTH . It is a great area for kids and there is lots to do!

There's a lovely group in Colliers Wood on a Friday morning at Christ Church. on Christchurch Road.

Also at the Oasis Church on Fortescue road in Colliers Wood on a Monday morning.

(I'm not a church go-er btw - they just happen to be in church halls! )

Hi Gabi!
Keeping an eye on this thread too as I am moving to the area next month with my 2.5 yr old DD and new baby boy.
Interested in any activities/playgroups etc in Wimbledon Village and town too.

Mungarra · 02/11/2008 14:08

The YMCA is very good. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays is soft play/gym for 2 hours. It's drop in and much cheaper than Gymboree etc. Tuesdays is singing and Friday is sticky fingers.

I don't know if it's still on but there was a toddler group at St Mary's Church in the village. I think it was on Friday mornings and was quite popular. There's a website familiesonline.co.uk, which has local listings for all sorts of activities.

The church Mumfun was talking about is Holy Trinity, I believe.
