Can anyone recommend a good independent toyshop in the Harrogate area -somewhere I can get something that little bit different?

The Rocking Horse is nice, in Westminster Arcade, just down from Debenhams

there's a lovely one in ripon on Kirkgate called the Learning Magnet or something similar. Knowledge magnet?

second vote for the Rocking Horse - has some really sweet stuff, things I remember from my own childhood (in the dim and distant past!)

If you're ever in York, there's a fabulous one near the Minster called Christmas Angels. Visit www.christmasangels.co.uk I know it's not local, but it's definately worth a visit.

Check out When I was A Kid - who sell good quality traditional and nostalgic toys and gifts, as well as outdoor games and equipment.

They have set an account with our local toy library, Harrogate & Knaresborough Toy Library, based in Harrogate High School (Registered charity) 10% of the value of orders will be donated to support the charity.

Visit www.wheniwasakid.co.uk and enter purchase code HKTL when you check out to ensure that this deserving charity receives it's donation.

The Toy Library provides low income families with access to a varied range of toys which they may not normally be able to afford, and also lend out specialist equipment to children with special needs - All of which is very expensive. Sol go one, get yourself a great gift and do your bit for charity at no extra cost to yourself!
