Hi there. Does anyone have experience of this school? We are moving back to the UK next year and are thinking about schools. Our daughter has been educated in the French system since the age of 2 and a half and we are looking at options to keep her French up when we come back(as English is our first language). The Wix school sounds interesting on paper. Any feedback would be greatly welcomed. Many thanks!

Another one opening in Putney, I think there are some 'issues' with the Wix one have you looked at the Ofsted?

Hi there, thanks. Yes, I did have a look at the Ofsted report - but hoped that the issues were initial teething problems...?

Do you know when the Putney school is due to open? I know that a school has recently opened in Fulham.

I'm guessing next Sep for the Putney one have you looked on the council website? if I come accross the info I will post later.
Are you in the UK?
I will try and go to look round the school so will let you know what I think if not. Havn't met anyone who goes there, nearly stopped a couple to ask what they thought (dcs had schoolbags from the achool) from the website it looks like the French kids are paying to be in the same class!
They move the kids out if they are not coping that might stop me because it would not be my choice of school otherwise and I think we would struggle to get a place in our preferred school if they did.

You would have to find out if your daughter was eligable for an English place if she speaks French allready I'm thinking not if she does so if would have to be paying for a French place IYSWIM however if she is over reception age she might get a place if they have removed anyone. Give them a rig and ask them I'm sure they'd tell you. I shall be asking a few tricky q's when I go to look round.

There was talk earlier in the year of Hotham School in West Putney becoming bi-lingual. Haven't heard much more about it recently. You would almost def have to live in Putney to get a place there I would think, either English or French. May be something on the Wandsworth Council website.

jlh69 · 12/10/2008 10:43

Hotham is already a well established school so i guess they would just introduce the French bit year by year?

cendrillon · 14/10/2008 12:52

Hi there! I've had a look at the Wandsworth website and it does confirm plans for Hotham school to become bi-lingual. And as you suggest, jlh69 they would introduce a bilingual reception class(so not an option for my dd) of kids who would then move up the school - but no indication of timing.

1dilemma - thanks for the info. We're overseas at the moment but there's a strong possibility that we will move back next year. If you do go to see Wix I would be very interested to hear what you think! But as you suggest will also ring to find out about places.

cendrillon are you still around? I will check in from time to time to see.

cendrillon · 14/01/2009 09:19

Hi 1dilemma - yes, still around - dipping in from time to time. No confirmation yet about when we're coming back. But will look into/consider trying to enrol dd via French Lycée - the inscriptions open from March...
