Hi clarebear. I'm in Derby. Heanor's not too far.

clarebear24 · 25/08/2008 07:56

Hi

Sorry had to go to bed as my girl has developed an early waking thing at 5am. I don't really know derby, do you know heanor, there is a nice cafe.

Hi I moved to Derby a year ago from watford so close to london. Avenalife is great at helping people find their way around derby.
I have a just nine month old, two yr old, and a 6 and 8 yr old. Last week was the first time I have been to Heaner i didnt realise how close it was to me in chaddesden.

clarebear24 · 25/08/2008 10:00

Wow you must be a very busy mum I will try to gey in touch with Avenalife, but if you ever have any sparetime and you fancy a coffee let me know

jes74 · 25/08/2008 12:28

right now spare time is on my wish list but once the boys are back at school then a hot choc would be good(I am not grown up enough to do coffee)

AvenaLife · 25/08/2008 12:39

Hi clarebear. Heanor's has a bus route, which is always helpful.
I've been in Derby for 13 years. I live with my son, he's 9 going on 50. He goes back to school on Thursday so I get some free time.

Mother and baby groups are a good way to meet people.

clarebear24 · 25/08/2008 17:04

I have tried some local groups, but people seem to be in little groups of their own and it very to get chatting to people in groups. Im not at all shy but finding it difficult. A lot of the mums at these groups are also quite young to, Im 32.

Jes74 Im not grown up enough for even hot chocolate, its diet coke for me!!!

I understand. I didn't go to mother and baby groups. I have a few friends from Uni and knew other people anyway. I get lonely now though, some have moved away. My best friend lives quite far so I don't see her very often. I'm 31, I don't go out because I'm a single mum so childcare's a problem.

Where have you moved from?

clarebear24 · 25/08/2008 18:51

I moved from london. i am originally from nottm but have lived in london for over ten years and we moved when poppy was 3wks bad idea made me a bit post natal, much happier now thou just want to get out a bit more

OP posts:
AvenaLife · 25/08/2008 18:56

That must have been really hard, to leave everyone and come here. I'm not surprised it made you post natal.

Getting out's good. I've found a babysitter so I've got a third of this sorted. I just need some cash and some friends and I'll be well away!

I've not been to Heanor. I was going to look at a school there but got a better offer. I know it's not too far away though. Are the locals friendly?

clarebear24 · 25/08/2008 19:13

No not really But my friend owns the local coffe shop and introduced me to a couple of nice mums my age, so slow getting to know a few people. If you ever fancy popping over let me know, im away next week but after that would be great

AvenaLife · 25/08/2008 19:17

Hello - I hope you don't mind me joining your chat - I'm in Littleover and thought it might be nice to know of other local mums.

I have one DS who is just about 21 months, I'm married but have no other family in the area. MN has been a bit of a life line of late, so thought I'd test it a bit more

I work full time so have found maintaining friendships with mums I met whilst on maternity leave quite hard.

Just interested in local activities and general chat?

AvenaLife · 02/09/2008 19:52

Hi calsworld. Littleover's nice. ds goes to school there. How have you managed to fin yourself in Derby? I have not met anyone on here who was born in Derby, everyone has moved here. Tell all and we will listen.

Tillyzell · 16/09/2008 16:31

Hi Avenalife - New on here but, I was born in Derby and am still here .. living in Mickleover with my two monkeys!

savoycabbage · 16/09/2008 16:39

Hello - I live in Heanor. I might be going to Weenies on Wilmot Street tomorrow and I am going to another baby group on Friday. I can't remember what street it's on, the Friday one. My youngest is 23 months - she loves a baby! Do you want to meet up?

avenanap · 17/09/2008 13:52

Hi Tillyzell. ds goes to the fencing club in Micklover. We live in the city centre, he's just started a school in Littleover so we may need to move in that direction because it's a real pain getting him to school.
Welcome to Mumsnet.

When are you free clairbear. ds has been ill, I've had my mum here for a few days over the weekend so I'm exhausted now. I'm sorry for not posting earlier.

Marie69 · 26/11/2010 16:00

Hi
hope you don't mind me messaging you!

Just joined as I'm looking to meet local mums and make some friends in the area.

You seem to know alot and also live in Langley mill which is where I am.

If you would like to meet up please get in touch as I'm feeling a little lonely and could do with meeting other mums.

I have 2 boys aged 3 and a newborn who's 7 weeks now.

Look forward to hearing from you

marie :-)

Hello ladies. Just wanted to ask few questions if possible. Im a bit new in here and confused. I haven't got kids yet but im expecting at the moment and don't really know much about any maternity units around. Im registered with kelvingrove medical centre but im not sure if there is any mudvifes in there. Did you booked your booking (dating) appointment yourself or your doctor did that? Can someone just explain to me what you did when you found out that you are pregnant please. I had a misscarriage about 2 month ago and now pregnant again so just want to make sure that I know a bit more about all this cuz as far as I think all scans have to be done in hospital so its either derby or Nottingham. Thank you if someone can reply and explain more. Thsnk you girls
