There's a ballet class at That Place on the Corner in Newington Green on Sunday mornings - haven't been so not sure what they're like.

my 3 year old goes to one on thursday afternoonso near london fields - is that any good to you?

Cheers for the replies.

I dropped into the corner cafe class. Parents can sit and have a coffee in the cafe while the class is on and it seemed a bit distracting - lots of kids were hanging around their parents rather than participating. Might have just caught them at the wrong time though. Thanks for replying hoxtonchick but London Fields is a bit far, I'm on the other side of Stokey.

Anyone else know of anything in Stoke Newington?

There is one in the Abney community centre on church street. It is very loosely based on ballet. Nice teacher - used to be on fridays. Went a few times, but felt by 3.5 year old was a bit old

Hi, have recently been made redundant and have taken my 3 year old daughter out of nursery. Am a bit daunted as well as excited about being a fulltime mum again after working since my duaghter was 1 and a bit out of the loop. Can anyone suggest good morninng (or indeed afternoon) activities for a 3 year old in the London Fields area please? Any suggestions gratefully received!

there are loads of drop ins at the anne tayler centre & mapledene & evergreen (art). if you drop into either of the children's centres they'll give you all the info. also, music on a friday morning at the children's centre in haggerston park (sebright?). we spend a lot of time in the park, swimming at britannia or the lido, going to the farm. and drinking coffee in broadway market .

I teach parent & toddler creative dance classes at Newington Dance Space which are on Thursdays at either 11-12 or 3.15-4.15pm. The classes have been running as drop in since January but have been so popular recently that after consulting many of the regulars, are going to be pre-book (6 week blocks) after half term.

I'm just about to update details everywhere! So if you want to book, please give me a call or email on 07884 104681 [email protected]
(drop in 16th & 23rd Oct, £5.50)
(booking system £33 for 6 weeks starting 6th Nov)

Can i do a NOT RECOMMENDED?

I don't recommend the Carol Stacker Dance School which is on Lower Clapton Rd (i think), the classes were at Baden Powell School.
She is very nice (don't get me wrong) but far too laid back, all the children just stand up and go and sit next to a parent and then wonder back again etc...
And Carol never tells the parents to stop talking (me included on occasion)
It was expensive too £80 for a term.

The yoga home one is v. sweet. 3-5 year olds, drop in, five quid, half an hour, recently changed hours 3.45 to 4.15. not 'ballet' as such - but kids like it and she keeps them in line. They flounce around being butterflies etc. Most kids wear tutus and ballet shoes, but no compulsion.
Parents sit outside on comfy sofas - and and the tea place there is mostly open so cappucino and biscuits available (plus sandwiches) while you wait.

SHAD (Stamford Hill Academy of Dance) is really good. Weekly classes in ballet, tap and modern at St Mary's Churcc hall in Defoe Rd. just of Church Street in Stoke Newington.

www.shad.uk.com

My daughter (11) has been doing all three classes since she was 3yrs.
