Hello!
We are a charity which runs two groups for new mums in Harrogate, called Mums In Need Of Support.
We are currently looking for warm, friendly empathic women to help the groups run smoothly. The groups run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10am-12 at two well-equipped children's centres.
This role would ideally suit a mum with children in nursery/school who would like to do something rewarding in the local community.
Duties include making hot drinks for mums, chatting, providing a supportive ear and helping ensure the group is a safe, relaxing environment for mums who may for a variety of reasons be struggling to cope with new motherhood.
Training and support is given for this role. You would have to provide references and be willing to undergo a CRB (Criminal Records) check.

If you would like to know more please ring Lizzie or Rachel on 01423 505676 (leave a message and we will ring you back) or you can email
rachel at harrogate dot org

Thanks for reading

Hi MINOS, have you contacted Harriet at the Harrogate Volunteer Centre?
If not, she can be emailed at [email protected], and I'm sure she'd be happy to email this opportunity to all their volunteers.

MINOS · 07/08/2008 18:25

Yes, we are based in same building as volunteer centre
And she knows we are looking and has been an excellent source of help for us in the past. But we are so good at supporting our volunteers, we keep enabling them to go and do further ed or get jobs - thus shooting ourselves in the foot as it were
We need a nice pool of volunteers so that no-one has to go on the rota too often.
And we just thought a little ask on here might just prompt someone exactly right for this particular project who might not even know about the volunteer Bureau.

But thanks for the thought!

Oh yes, asking on here is a fab idea.
Just thought I'd mention the hvb in case you didn't already know.

MINOS · 07/08/2008 18:56

erm, are you involved with the VB by any chance?? Do I know you?
