Hi all,
I have just moved to Marlborough from Surrey and I dont know anyone - I wondered if there was any get together or coffee mornings/afternoons that happened in this neck of the woods?
I could always come to Swindon however it may take me a while as I am not entirely sure of how to get there.
Also is there much to do with the children in this area?
Looking forward to speaking to you all x

Hi llm I'm in Swindon, it's easy to get to! Not sure of any meetups but wouldn't mind meeting for a coffee. I know Marlborough quite well and the Polly tea rooms are fab...

Hi Lilmiss and muppetgirl I'm in Swindon as well and always happy for a meet up! I think there's quite a bit to do here (don't know about Marlborough). Coate Water, Lydiard, The Link for ice-skating and Oasis for swimming and several soft plays although we hardly ever do those any more. Tbh once they're at school my times taken up with their various clubs/groups/parties and playdates. Swindon Young Musicians is a great place for them to join for Saturdays (my dp works wkends so I have to keep them busy then as well lol ! How old are your kids? I have 2 dds 5 and 8.

Hi all- thank you for so many replies it is good to know I am not on my own.
I have 2 children ds 7 and dd 3 so I am quite limited to time, however would love to meet up with you all. Any suggestions for time and place? I am happy to drive too and I know my way to Swindon now!
Hazeyjane what have you been up to with your two? We have done some walking on the marlborough downs but havent found any mother and toddler groups or anything though!x

Sorry, just saw that you had posted!

There are toddler groups at the Scout Hut on George Lane, on a Friday morning and St Mary's (Silverless Street) on a Mon and Thurs morning. There is a Surestart centre in the carpark behind Waitrose (next to the recycling bins) which has something on for kids on most days (if you pop in in the morning there is usually someone ther to give you a list). The library is pretty good and has a little singing thing on the last Wed of every month at 9.30 (I think!)

If I think of any more I'll let you know. Oh and if you walk up to Manton (if you look on the map, there is a really lovely walk behind the college) there is a very nice little swing park, much nicer than the one in town (dd2 16 months tends to eat the bark chippings - yum!)

Oh, and StPeters, the church at the college end of the high street is a lovely place for tea and cake, and is big enough for the kids to run around a bit.

Good luck!

Disclaimer - I Am Not A Stalker Hazyjane - were you by any chance crossing the high street by the town hall at about 4pm today?

hazeyjane · 24/09/2008 19:26

No I don't think it was me, but I'm excited/freaked out to think I might have a double, and a stalker!

DisasterArea · 24/09/2008 19:30

same buggy maybe. was that i noticed afte sneeking a look at your profile while lurking here earlier. and 2 DCs about the same age ish. just me in my sad little life wondering if random strangers are in fact MNers.

hazeyjane · 24/09/2008 19:36

I'm glad to know that someone in Marlborough Mumsnet's, I've mentioned it a couple of times to people, and they just stare at me blankly, and I feel like an idiot!

I hope my double was a lot more glamorous than the real me, and was wearing something a bit more stylish than the ratty cardigan and jeans that I was.
