It's been throwing it down all day. Do you still want to go to the park so the children can play in the mud?

hi this weather is crap, not looking good is it! n would love to wallow in mud i would not enjoy the mess she could and would make.

avenanap · 12/07/2008 00:12

Haa. Shall we make it next week and I'll call the rain curse off? It was only supposto last for sports day. I went a bit OTT .

it was you that did the rain dance was it then, next weekend fine but will be without k as he is at cubs camp,

avenanap · 12/07/2008 00:22

I wanted it to rain on sports day so ds didn't have to run and on Friday for his leaving ceremony (can't say his though). I've found some lovely quotes about the school on a web site. I didn't now there are more rebels out there. I wish I knew who they were so I could thank them.

I'm recycling this one .

Poor little one. Is he feeling better? How are you coping with a house full?

He goes back next week. It's been really boring, he's spent most of the time on the laptop and going to the cinema. We did manage to go to Alton Towers though. I'm job hunting. I've just applied to work at Boots (must be despirate!). I'd like to try journalism but have no idea how to go about it in a cheap free way.

jes74 · 18/08/2008 23:19

I thought you were the eternal student, he is fine now, at the moment k and a are on hols with grandparents so fairly calm here, though will be mad with my sister and niece living here.
The weather is crap though for summer hols and doing stuff so well done for gettingto alton towers, the boys would love to go there.

AvenaLife · 18/08/2008 23:24

I am the eternal student but it's not paying the bills . Especially now the school fees have gone up. I don't know whether to email the editor of the local newspaper and beg. I could do law, medical, environment. I've just finished writing my first childrens book aswell. Ah well, nothing to loose.

How are you managing to fit them all in? It must get tight in your house. Dh must be very understanding or does he have no choice?

Gullivers Kingdom is quite nice aswell, it's not to far. Cheaper than Alton Towers . We've not done anything else. Bloody school uniform!!!!!! Rip off!!!!!!

jes74 · 18/08/2008 23:29

i didnt think jounalism paid much unless you get lucky, k and a will share a room as will my niece and sister, its a squash but will be ok, Dh just goes with the flow.
Might try gullivers kingdom if the sun comes out again.
I saw uniform was not cheap, didn't know the school fees were more - ouch you need to win the lottery

AvenaLife · 18/08/2008 23:36

Lol! I can't afford to buy a ticket .
Any pay will be more then I'm getting now. Business has almost dried up because all my customers are broke aswell. I quite like the idea of getting paid to write. I like writing. It'll give me chance to save up for medical school. I'm just not sure how to start and no one's answered my thread . You know what they say, every little helps. beats working at Boots. I've just applied online, it didn't ask about or experience or qualifications. Good job really as I'm a tad overqualified for working on a check out.

The rides are free at gullivers. The hills are a bugger though. We went for Joe's birthday, we must have gone on the log flume 5 times.
How old's your neice?

jes74 · 18/08/2008 23:42

I must buy a ticket myself, writing requires brain power my brain is on hols and has been the last eight years or so, my niece is nearly 6 so will be lots of fun here.
Boots can put you to work in the pharmacy bit

AvenaLife · 18/08/2008 23:49

Hmm. I prefer writing (at the moment, the novelty;s not worn off yet so I'm doing well), 1 book down, 8 more on the pipeline. I've got to think of something I can do. I can go back to the nursing course in October but it made me ill last time. I'm sure I have a brain somewhere.

Would you like to go to the park when it dries out?

jes74 · 18/08/2008 23:53

what sort of books are you writing? my sister hopes to get a job at the hospital if pos or do her nurses training.
the park would be good, but im sure i jinx it each time

AvenaLife · 18/08/2008 23:56

Lol! It'll be OK. I'll call the rain off for you.
I'm writing childrens books. The one I've just finished is for 3-5 year olds and is about a bee. Nurse training is crap. All I used to do was run to pharmacy and take temperatures.

jes74 · 18/08/2008 23:59

she is a grade 2 hca so knows what its about and has been a hca for the past 11 years, i loved ant and bee books when i was little.

AvenaLife · 19/08/2008 00:02

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. My friend's a teacher, she's asked me if she can use it for a school assembly/play. I need cash though!
The next one's going to be about a mouse.

Is she staying in Derby?

jes74 · 19/08/2008 00:06

send it off to the publishers and use pester power to get it published, let J be your manager.
She intends to stay in Derby my niece starts at school with A after the hols, but its very complicated, she did not expect to be moving but relationship break up in bad circumstances force the move.

AvenaLife · 19/08/2008 00:09

Oh dear. Is she going to look for a house?

Joe probably would. He thinks it's great but he's biased. I've found a publisher on the web but they want 3 books before even looking at it. I don't know if it's that good though. I need to find someone to do the artwork/do it myself. That's the hard bit.

jes74 · 19/08/2008 00:12

She will be housed with luck under emergency situation as move is on police and sw advice, so we are a temporary stop gap.

I know nothing about the world of publishing but is there not a few writersand illustrators on mn you can ask?

AvenaLife · 19/08/2008 00:17

Possibly. I've asked what to do next and was recommended a book. I might see if I can get an illustrator, I don't think my pictures are up to scratch.

Poor sis . Sounds like she's been through it.

jes74 · 19/08/2008 00:21

well i wait to see you in print, my sis has had a horrendous few months i just hope things get better for her and my niece as quickly as they can starting with a new home.

AvenaLife · 19/08/2008 00:24

You should try freecycle for some furniture and stuff for her once you know what's happening. I know that the council runs a furniture place that collects unwanted stuff that's in very good condition and sells it really cheaply.

Are you going to have to babysit if she goes into nursing?

jes74 · 19/08/2008 00:29

She is putttng most stuff in storage but i have got the details of the furniture scheme for the items she is missing, and yes i shall be the baby sitter, but she is at school with my boys so not hard to organise and they all get on well thankfully.

AvenaLife · 19/08/2008 00:31

That's good.

How are you managing? It must be really stressful.

jes74 · 19/08/2008 00:34

I just let it go over me chaos and mayhem should have been my middle names

AvenaLife · 19/08/2008 00:39

I think they are having a craft (making rockets) at Pickfords House (the one with all the steps) if your boys are back.
